What is wrong with people this morning? First someone questions whether winning against Seattle is important, as if it's ok to give up before the division has even been decided. And now this award winning thread...this idea that we should run the table Just because we need to for winning the division. Does someone actually have to be told that the odds aren't even close for that to happen?

Why oh why don't the CZ Admin add a new Zone section called the Phantom Zone, for those special people who need to be timed out for all eternity? Is that too much to ask?

How? I'm not sure how the tie breaker system works

We’d be tied in division record and common opponents so it would go to conference record. Eagles would own that tiebreaker due to their loss to the Jets while we lost to the Cards.

We have win out to have any hope of improving our seeding. And the Giants have to beat the Eagles once. That’s really our only realistic path to the division title and I’m not sure it’s realistic.
I can see the EaGirls losing to the Seahawks in Seattle more than the Gints beating them. I'm not sure if it's relevant stat to this year's game but EaGirls have lost to the SeaHawks last 7 games.

If we win out and the EaGirs lose to SF, Dal, and Seattle we win the division.

I think we win the next 2 and Philly losses the next 2.

For use to win the division tie breaker over the Ugles, after we win the next 2, and they lose the next 2: Of course we need to stay tied with them and they need to lose to the Giants 1 time( in 2 games) and we need to beat the Commanders. This would give us the 2nd tie breaker, best record against your division.

We can still win the division if this scenario does not play out, but we will need Philly to lose 1 more game than us. They could lose to Seattle as we continue to win!!!!!!!
..wow, good Pickens mate. I hope your spot on.

Counting on Philly losing their next three games is LESS realistic than hoping the Giants pull an upset. JMO

Fair enough. I just see it a bit differently. I think we beat Buffalo, and the Eagles. I worry a bit more about the Lions right now. Mostly, because they're an up and coming team on an upward trajectory.

Still, Dallas is coming on.. They're starting to play like a seasoned team. Even the Mazi Smith is making plays out there. I can't wait for Overshown next year. I doubt he's actually injured. If he is, my apologies. The issue is our secondary was so loaded, there was no room.
I think Detroit is a tough match up for us. I also see Buffalo as a tough match up as we have problems with QBs that can run, ala Alan.

we may lost one of those two, but if eagles continue as they are, the last game maybe meaningless and we probably have Rush start.

Even if the Giants pull an upset, the EaGirls have to lose to us and another game. My point is the SF and Seattle beating the Eagirls is more likely than Giants beating the Eagirls.

Coming up over the next 6 weeks, we have Seahawks, Eagles, Bills, Dolphins, Lions, and the so-called Commanders (whatever that means).
All of the parrots amongst our fanbase are jabbering about how we haven't beaten anyone with a winning record.

The trick to that argument is we're often part of the reason the teams we play don't have winning records, because we end up issuing them a loss.

The other part to that argument, it's all talk. This team hasn't really been talking much lately. Take DaRon Bland, for instance, he just goes out there and let's his play do the talking. McCarthy didn't hand us a bunch of excuses after the loss to the Cardinals, he stayed late at the office and just got the adjustments done. Personally, I appreciate how McCarthy is a perpetual student of the game and brings a level of curiosity, which allows him to adapt to an ever-evolving league.

That's good for the players. By week 11, you ought to know what your team is or what it can do. The key now is putting it all together and executing what you've been preparing for on game day.

This team wasn't the most prepared team in week 5. But they look like one of the most prepared teams in the league right now. They look as good as the Eagles and 9ers. The Eagles have just been blessed with luck lately, and the 9ers have shown they aren't invincible.

No team is actually invincible. But in a one-and-done playoff tournament, you have to play like you're invincible in the post-season to get to the Super Bowl. To get where we all want to be, we'll have to win several in a row, usually against winning teams (unless we're talking last year's Buccaneers). This team can win the next 6 in a row. If they do that, anything is possible. I'm not counting them out to be the number 1 seed. Over the years, we've seen how the teams who gel and start coming together towards the end of the season are usually the teams that win, and we've seen teams start strong only to fizzle out when it matters.

I'm not going to say we are winning 6 in a row, but I'm saying we can, and we "should." It's something in the air around the Cowboys, though. To me, this year feels different than last. Mostly because we're not being predictable on offense. We're not running up the A and B gaps to start the game. Instead, we're passing to set up the run.

With our current defense, passing to run the ball is a formula with success. Had we begun the season with our current philosophy, we'd likely have a different record right now.

Somehow, though, I have a feeling those losses will end up being a blessing in disguise, especially the trouncing we got by San Fran.

This team is coming together, even more than last year, which makes me think we should win out from here.
Thats alot of time you spent typing up something that isnt going to happen

..its possible. Offense is hitting its stride. OL is playing better.

If they can beat Philly, Buff, Sea and Wash. Id be happy with that.

Go into Post season healthy. Anything can happen.
The true fans will rise at times like these.. but I agree.

Im pretty sure Overshown is a LB. Everything else is spot on
Right But they weren't going short on the offensive line. Maybe he would have been cut so they let him go on IR.

I've just never seen an injury happen like that. Your ACL tears when force causes it to bend, not when you make a tackle laying out with your legs straightened. At least that was the first time, and ive been watching football for a long time. Decades. I don't remember ever seeing an ACL tear happen like that one occcurred.

Like I said, I could be wrong

Even if the Eagles lose this coming week and then again to the Cowboys they will still leave AT&T Stadium in first place in the division and with more room for error especially given that their end of the schedule is friendlier than Dallas’. Considering all of this, it shows how likely the Cowboys are going to enter the playoffs as the top wild card team.

Since we have identified this to be the case then we ought to start looking at the other teams in that mix. We want the Cowboys to be the top wild card so they will get to visit the winner of the NFC South, as well as be the potential home team the following week if somehow we see all sorts of wildcard upsets. Seattle is on a two-game losing streak which is why they have dipped below the Cowboys, but losing to Dallas specifically would push them even further back as well as give the Cowboys the head-to-head tiebreaker if that comes into play.

Consider the remaining opponents for the Cowboys and their standing within the playoff picture:

  • Week 13: Seattle Seahawks (contending wildcard team)
  • Week 14: Philadelphia Eagles (overwhelming favorite to win NFC East so not a wildcard contender)
  • Week 15: at Buffalo Bills (AFC team so not relevant)
  • Week 16: at Miami Dolphins (AFC team so not relevant)
  • Week 17: Detroit Lions (overwhelming favorite to win NFC North so not a wildcard contender)
  • Week 18: at Washington Commanders (almost eliminated from playoff contention)
The only team left on the schedule that poses a direct threat to the most likely path that Dallas will take is the Seattle Seahawks, which means Thursday night is massive. It goes without saying that you always want to win every game and obviously Dallas winning keeps the faint hope alive that they can leapfrog Philadelphia, but injecting practicality into the situation yields a reality where Thursday night is rather critical.

Given our home vs road play, I'm not so sure that "should" is the right word here.

I think we most likely finish 12-5 again. We could win out, but I don't see why we should believe it is likely.

The teams we've beaten this year have losing records because they SUCK. We had nothing to do with Carolina or the Giants being horrible, or the Commanders selling off their best players.

Now...that stretch of teams you listed up there....Dolphins, Lions, Bills, Eagles, Seahawks...that's a real slate of opponents. Let's see how we do against teams that actually have NFL talent and are trying to win.

We run that gauntlet and the narrative will change. But so far..the 2 good teams we've played beat us...so let's see how we do with 5 good teams in a row (I know seattle has fallen off, but they're still a good organization with legit coaches and players)
