Kicker and Right Tackle.

I really hope they don't want Kosier starting at right tackle... I hope that isn't their answer to our woes...

I am certain, that kicker will be addressed in quick order now. As far as RT,, I am not sold there is one out there that is either better than what we have on the team,, or is better than one we could draft and pay alot less. I know Fabini is out there and he would be a decent stop gap, but we have Petitti, this Kosier kid, rogers , and colombo.. we might not sign one until it is determined our RT is not already on the team.

Remember how that landed us in trouble last year, AND the year before that...

yep i do. and i understand the out cry for signing a RT.. just not sure it will happen. This was not a FA that was full of RT. I fully expect us to sign another OL in FA, i am thinking Stephen Neal, to take LA spot. And i expect us to draft an OL in the draft, prob someone like Marcus Mcneil, who would be a huge upgrade at RT then what we have. Again, I agree we need one, not sure this is the right FA to get one, for long term anyway.

I doubt we draft a RT. We will probably sign a vet to help mentor Pettiti.

I've heard that a deal for Jason Fabini is imminent...

Very well could be the case, I like Pettiti, I think this kid is a gamer and will be our starting for a long time.. but he has to improve. It was not his fault he got thrown to the wolves last year. He showed a lot of potential though.

We dont need a right tackle. We need a left tackle that can back up flozell.
Once adams went down petiti gave up a couple more sacks. BUt for a rookie he was on pace to give up like 7 or 8 before flo went down. Not great but not bad for a rookie.

WE ARENT GETTING A RIGHT TACKLE> and if we do it is for depth only. (although we have 3 on the team)

We need players who can play multiple positions. Larry allen hurt us a lot last year. No one here says it enough. He would come out of his stance and whiff on people. Didnt have the quickness. SUre when HE DID actually engage someone he took them out. But we need somebody to really pull and take someone out.

The line was doing pretty well until flozell went down. And even flozell gave up some sacks. We are not a perfect line but with tucker and petiti on their own it made it tough. One year later I am sure somethings will improve.

We do need a kicker though. Kicker I agree with.

Our major needs right now are kicker and free safety.

BECAUSE WE ARE SIGNING A WIDE RECIEVER. We just are. WHoever it is we are getting one.

still a ton of time remaining. what do you want? to jump out in front, make a huge too much money offer just because we have a need? That's bad business.

Start complaining if we go into the pre-season with a problem

Its very possible that we sign a vet as insurance. But I do not see us drafting a OT. With Pettiti, ROgers and Columbo, BP will want to try them out and see if one can make it. I wish Rogers had Pettiti's stones; I wish Pettiti had Rogers Body; and I wish Columbo could fully heal. Maybe one of these will come true.

I believe the FA plan is alive and well, and right now nothing will happen until the TO press conf is completed most likely sometime next week. :)

I don't think any of the FA tackles look very good at all. I'm not sure throwing money at any of them would help. We are going to have to draft someone at that position and hope someone steps up among the crew we have.

We badly need a proven kicker. I'm not sure what happened here but the Cowboys have been very quiet. Based on last year, this is the one that has puzzled me.

I don't see us drafting OL in the first. but at 2 there is a good chance that someone falls to us and whether they are a G or T they would be hard to pass us. Ditto for round 3.

I mean if we can get McNeil or Winston or Giles in round 2 or someone like Lutui falls to round 3 there is just no way you can pass that up.

TO or no TO, nothing changes unless Bledsoe can be protected. O-line remains a serious concern right now.

By the way CrazyCowboy, which guy in the photo is Mr. Jones?

It dont matter what you do in FA, terrells the man, he can kill any team, no matter how many team players you put around him. Watch the line of our FA leave as they become unsatisfied with the status quo of terrell owning the cowboys. Remember the campo days when players would bypass the coach and go to jones, this will happen again. Jerry will afford special treatment for his star. hiw one and only star now. He will wrap himself in terrells mantle and alientate all his real stars. You can already see the glassy eyed jones now. Not announcing this till he gets back from his vacation. Its already started.

We can't fix all our OL problems in one season, but we also shouldn't deceive ourselves into believing the addition of Kosier (signed to play guard but also a hedge at RT) is all we need to do. We MUST sign a FA OT (maybe Fabini/Runyan) who can give us 1-2 years while we develop Pettiti, Rogers, Colombo, any 06draftee. Additionally, should Adams not be ready/get hurt, the vet RT could replace him at LT with either Petiti/Rogers/Colombo replacing him at RT. If none capable, then Kosier could move to RT and hopefully Peterson can step in at LG. But I do think we should also use 2nd round to add a top OT.

BTW: Read somewhere (on another board?) that a NJ radio/tv? station reported yesterday evening that we signed Fabini. Doubt that true cause KFFL reported today that Fabini was visiting Buffalo on Thursday. Fabini's visited 3 teams (Dallas/Tampa/Buffalo) but hasn't been signed. Runyan on vacation so no visits for him but simmering possibility Eagles might/only might be thinking of resigning him.

That's just good business -- everyone is talking about the Cowboys -- free advertising for several days.

I've never seen any sort of signing announced without Jerry there -- and BP is rarely there himself. Why wouldn't Jerry be there?

Apparently Runyan is out of the country on vacation. What a moron go on vacation at the start of free agency when teams are just dying to give away money

I still think Kosier is their right tackle as I believe they would have released Larry Allen by now.

The smart move would be to keep Allen around, move Kosier to right tackle and draft another OT on the first day. Have the rookie work as a backup under Kosier in 2006. Come 2006, see if the rookie is ready to play LT, move Flozell to right tackle, and then unload Larry's contract and move Kosier to left guard.

They also haven't signed a FS, which is mind numbing right now.
