We still need a LT

Assuming Smith is staying at LG, we should look into signing a LT and their are 3 LTs that can start right away for a year or 2.

Walker, GB -- might be a little pricey, good at 20 mil per season.
Decker, DET--- might be had at 15-18 per season.
Robinson, CLE-- probably around 10- 12 per season.

It would seem logical that if Smith stays at LG, we sign a veteran LT otherwise we would need to draft OT at 12.

Without a solid LT, our season will be over before you know it. We could sign one of the 3 to a 1 year contract and look for replacement in next years draft.

Don't think they are going to sign a swing tackle at those prices. They will probably look to their 5th rounders to try and find a gem. Guyton is the guy and unless he nose-dives in his progression he will remain the guy.

Outstanding post and 3 definite upgrade suggestions for the gaping hole at left tackle.

You'll not find a bigger critic of Guyton on this board so to read someone else's opinion that aligns with mine is good to see.

Great job man.

It's NOT a "gaping hole". And the Cowboys are NOT going to pay that kind of money for a swing tackle. In 2022 they signed Jason Peters to be a swing tackle for ~1.8 mil for one year. 10 mil is probably not happening.

You're really gonna debate me on the merits of Tyler Guyton's 2025 game film?

Besides Kenneth Murray, he was the next worst starter on the team by a mile.

He's a false start machine waiting to happen cuz he can't even perform the basics of timing the snap count properly.

He has major durability issues and even when healthy his onfield performance is barely league serviceable.

Additionally and well before his official announcement of being officially placed on IR, Schott publicly announced he would be the swing and Smith would be the LT for the remaining games.
Again this was before the official announcement of his IR status.

So now with all that said do I even need to go into his overall season's PFF number grades?

Yeah, I'd say the position is still slightly gaping.
Slightly.
LOL

They may bring back Jones or Adijini. If they can't find a good draft prospect, or even another FA.
I thiknthey liked them both somewhat. But some injuries held them back. Jones was on IR all season. And Adijini had nagging injuries off and on throughout the season.

Wouldn't be opposed to it if we can draft a good one hopefully in the 3rd round, or if one of the top guys fall we can hopefully pick them up, end this LT drama with our current left tackle! He needs good competition to push him

Iron sharpens iron, I know we don't want to draft an OL in the first round again with all the defensive needs we have, but if one of the top guys slips to us, we have to consider it. Or if there's a FA OT that's out there that's good enough to start for us should be brought in to give him some competition. We're in a win now mode with this offense, I feel the uncertainty with Guyton is holding things back when it pertains to the OL. Please give your thoughts!!

Really? Honestly not only is Gutyon an injury risk, but hes probably not even a starting caliber player to this point in his career. Really he should be your swing until he shows he can outright win the position in camp against legitimate competition.

Ya,
Another one you won't hear a peep from when Guyton is either injured again or benched before mid season.

Do others not have All-22 and just close their eyes or completely ignore how poor he is?

Freaks me out TP that the Mazi Smith of offensive linemen has this mystery groupie cult.

smh

I agree on bringing a quality vet into the mix. BTW if they find an Edge and LB through trades, I'd have no problem getting the best LT at 12 or 20 in the draft if the value is there.

That can come later

We have one that played really well there in Smith. I don’t understand their reluctancy to playing him there.
