Your right Parcells would love to have Hennings as his OC but no way would Jerry agree to name Hennings as next HC when Parcells leaves. Hennings is 64 making him 66 if Parcells does retire end of 07 season; Jerry rightfully would view Hennings as too old for the job. Now in 2 years might be interested in trying to get Charlie Weis to leave ND and come here as HC; I'd sure be interested in that possibility.

I don't know if he signed an extention but if you give him the title of asst. head coach he can leave and for the chane to be HC of the Da Boys, he will leave.

He already has a good situation -- you don't leave a team that has a solid O for one that needs to rebuild the O - plus you'd have to be stupid to promise someone a position after BP leaves.

When BP leaves we aren't going with one of his assistants, we'll likely totally redo the staff.

Never work simply because they are friends. No such thing on Parcells sidelines. Parcells has a ton of coaches that fell off his tree and I'd bet not a one of them could and/or would work for him...........again.
