Weather Won't Factor Into The Super Bowl Returning To Arlington...

... since this year's weather was more of an aberration than being typical for the first weekend in February. The following graphs show the high and low temperatures, along with the amount of precipitation which fell, on both the first Sunday in February along with the Fridays and Saturdays which preceded them from 1991 through 2010:

Unless the same wintery weather of this week returns annually, the league will see similar data presented when North Texas prepares its the next Super Bowl bid. That same bid will contain emergency precautions for clearing roadways as well. It may take five to ten years for the NFL's title game to return, but Arlington will get another shot without the weather within that timeframe in my opinion.

It want take ten years not with that stadium that things is a to big and will generate to much money it will become part of a regular rotation. It going to blow out anything the Super Dome ever did.

When the Big wigs from those companies sit in those sweets and the big Jumbotron etc etc. It will be back my guess in 3 years

The next three sites are Indianapolis, New Orleans and New [strike]Jersey[/strike] York. I figure Arlington will offer competing host site bids against the likes of San Diego, Houston, Glendale, Tampa and Miami for the following five years (2015 - 2019) in that particular order. If so, I can see them superseding Glendale or Tampa. If not, I don't believe the city can land a winning bid before 2020.

All I keep reading is that Atlanta never got another SB after the game there was iced in...I hope Cowboys Stadium will get another one but who knows?

This weather BS is such crap . When they announce who is getting the super bowl the first and most important thing is the game itself. Dome = no weather issues. Perfect!. The fact that fans who are paying over inflated prices for the perfect weather conditions is a close second IMO

Yeah yeah i know there will be some people who say the weak long activities are just as important , economic impact blah blah but seriousley they played the super bowl in fricking detroit a few years ago where where all the weathermen er i mean sports reporters complaining then?

This week long of crying and complaining about secondary events are only being blown out of proportion because the media and all the other haters out there simply NEED to take shots at both jerry and the cowboys because they are jealous.

Atlanta hosted two Super Bowls in '94 and 2000. That's a pretty quick turnaround for any city outside of southern Florida, southern California and New Orleans. They will get another shot. Perhaps even sooner than I've predicted, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Atlanta go through a 20-year host drought like Detriot.

The one thing to remember is that weather isn't an all-weighing factor. The Motor City's first Super Bowl endured a blizzard. It didn't stop them from ever hosting another one.

The media's opinions are irrelevant. The league doesn't award Super Bowl host sites on their input. I created this thread more along the lines of deflecting superstitious nonsense behind (primarily) Cowboys fans insinuating that "Jerry Jones is getting what he deserves". I doubt that New Orleans will see another Super Bowl before 2025. There are just too many competing sites nowadays. Plus, the Superdome will be nearing the end of its stadium lifetime in my opinion within the next 20 years. New Orleans may see another Super Bowl within that time, but it may not be played within the Superdome.

No worries. I didn't take it that way. The media gets way too much credit with the general public for sensationalism. That's really the basis of my comment about them.

In the end, the temperature numbers will mean nothing compared to the $$$ numbers.

Besides, I bet a ton of people came in today and are leaving Monday, both of which are and will be plenty nice.

I said pretty much the same thing to Chad Dukes on twitter. He hosts a show with Lavar Arrington in DC. I decided to reply to a pic he posted on twitter of a frozen parking lot. His point was that "hey look at this ice 1 day before the super bowl." I told him weather won't keep the SB from coming back. Tomorrow is important and once all 32 owners seen 100K+ packed into Cowboys Stadium, that will do all the talking. No one cares what these spoiled media guys think. Parties still went on, restaurants have been filled the last two nights, and the travel improved. Dude said I was delusional.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but outside of the weather issue, I think the characterizations of how bad this SB has been are way over-the-top.

The NFL has alreasy said that Miami wont get anymore superbowls until the stadium is upgraded.
