Webb says he got benched after Saints touchdown, and 'I don't blame them'
Rookie cornerback B.W. Webb said he got benched after missing a tackle that could have prevented Darren Sproles’ 3-yard touchdown run with 1:32 left in the first half that put the Saints ahead 21-10.

“I don’t blame them,” he said.

Asked if he simply took a bad angle or got a late look at the play, Webb shook his head. He hesitated and said, “I don’t know. I just missed a tackle.”

Heath says he did 'everything' bad against Saints, didn't do his job
Rookie safety Jeff Heath said he did everything bad Sunday night against the Saints.

“It’s everything, man,” he said. “I just didn’t play good. I missed tackles. Guys catching the ball in the middle of the field, and that’s my one job, to not let anyone catch the ball in my area.”

Heath couldn’t bring down some of the Saints’ top play-makers, including tight end Jimmy Graham and receiver Marques Colston. He got turned around on a long touchdown pass to Kenny Stills and generally looked overmatched and out of place.

“I just tried to forget about the bad plays, tried to looked forward,” he said. “But it’s tough. Definitely tough.”

I can't even get mad at guys like Webb and (especially) Heath. They're late-round and undrafted rookies. I don't understand how we cut a guy like Allen. He wasn't great but he was a well-respected veteran backup safety on the Steelers, a team that boasted one of the best safety tandems of this generation. I don't care how well Wilcox was progressing--you don't cut quality veteran depth. That's our problem. We get rid of all the veteran depth and leave the job to rookies who shouldn't be expected to contribute much anyway. Webb, Heath, I ain' mad a'cha, boys.

When will Cowboys get a good safety?

It's been 10 years since D. Woodson and every safety since has been average to scubs.

Being well respected is one thing. Completely sucking is another. We made the right move going with youth.

Maybe Allen wasn't the answer, but you need some quality veteran depth on your team in case of emergency. There are a bunch of career backups in the NFL who have been playing for over a decade. Teams love these guys because they're cheap and they can step in and contribute when needed to. They're not good enough to start but they won't cost you a game either. Guys like Kyle Orton, for example. On a good team, he could come in for 4 games and win 2 or 3 of them. Will Allen was that guy for the Steelers for many years. Polamalu was/is great but you could expect him to miss a few games each season. Allen came in and wasn't a liability. I thought we should have kept him. If not him, at least get someone else. You can't have all 22 year olds on your team.

This D makes me sad.

Yeah these two screwed up, but was the D any better when we had the starters......nope.

Worse collection of safeties I have ever seen for the way the game is played now.
