Some of the play calls leave little room for error, high risk high reward kinda stuff that looks great when it's working and just horrible when it's not. Very Mike Martz'ish

So you want Garrett to play close to the vest and play not to lose?

Every potential big play, has a high risk atatched to it. Deeper passes mean longer time in the pocket, which means higher risk for a sack etc. As a coach you have to trust your players to go out there and be better than the other team.

And to compare Garrett's offense to Martz is just wrong. Plain and simple, it's not true.

This isn't the first time they've been bad. They were bad against Denver and KC too.

My point is that this unit costs us more games than the defense. When we lose, it's not usually because the defense plays bad.

In 2 of our 3 losses, the defense had a chance to win the game and failed to do so.

Besides this game, they've all been team losses, not just on the offense. (although the defense allowing GB to convert 46% of 3rd downs didn't help us either)

Romo and Witten are the only two elite players from your list in my opinion. The rest could be replaced with similar quality guys. I have high hope for Austin , Bennett and Jones but as of right now they are not "elite" players as far a league wide talent goes. Combined with some mediocre play as a unit the O line isn't helping things either.

This could be the first time JBond and I have agreed on anything. Just ask him, he'll tell you....

That being said, we have to realize that as fans, we overrate the talent on this team. Every fan of every team does. Witten is elite (although not having the greatest year), and Romo is very good, he isn't elite.

The offensive line is nowhere near elite. If we didn't have a very mobile qb back there, I could see this line in the top 3 teams who give up sacks.

It is what it is, we can be a very good football team. I have no doubt about this. However, until this team, and this coaching staff realizes that until we can stop the penalties, we are doomed, then......we are doomed.

Jason Garrett, while he isn't perfect, he is far, far, far from being a detriment to this team.

... unless the best way to win the ball game is by running the ball. He just doesn't have the patience, poise under pressure or commitment. He's the guy who makes the New Years Eve resolution every year that he's going to give up smoking for good, but the first time he gets stuck in traffic he's lighting up.

I'm not talking about pass to run ratio, I'm talking about the actual offense, actual football, not what you see in a box score.

Route combinations, protection schemes, overall philosophy.

Martz never kept people in to block, which got his QB killed, was a huge fan of trips and flooding zones which required pinpoint accuracy, and didn't really utilize TE's, as he favored WR's.

Does that sound like Garrett's offense?

We're tied for 10th (with Pittsburgh) in pass attempts per game. We're tied for 5th in yds per pass attempt. 5th in pass plays over 20 yds. 1st in pass plays over 40 yds.

Also, Arizona, New England and Indy rank 2-3-4 in avg number of pass attempts per game, and all lead their divisions. Minnesota, New Orleans and Cincy are the only teams with winning records who rank 20th or lower in pass attempts per game.

We are 24th in avg rush attempts per game (a total of 2 attempts behind Pittsburgh, who are 22nd). One interesting note on rushing attempts per game is that 4 of the bottom 5 teams in avg rush attempts per game are San Diego, Arizona, Philadephia and Indy. They all have winning records and it is very likely that 3 of those 4 will win their divisions. Also its interesting that despite ranking near the bottom in rush attempts per game, we do rank near the top of the league in rushing first downs (7th)

No, not in the least.
