Why dont you use QBR instead of the poor QB rating metric? And you should add 3rd down conversion rate as its huge.

ESPN gave it the good college try to move everybody over QBR, however, it's never taken off.

I wonder how much time they are putting into computing it anymore. Is it any less subjective than let's say PFF's analysis of QBs?

My understanding is both require a human being to watch every snap and make a judgement call on what was going on for each play and how the QB performed.

Thanks
I guess I could consider adding that 3rd down conversion rate. But that is a team stat. It certainly isn't a normal stat listed for QBs. 3rd down conversions occur by running or passing.
I agree, it is an important team stat though.
QBR is used by ESPN. The standard by far...maybe 50-1...is QB rating. So I probably won't add thatl, as it's been universally ridiculed.

I like how Dak's stats are trending anyway.

Just stating the statistical facts as they are listed.

QBR crack-ups and trivia

"The fourth best game of the year, according to QBR, came from Teddy Bridgewater who went 14/18, 153 yards, with one touchdown in a game against the Detroit Lions"

"This one’s my favorite: The all-time best game in QBR history was when Charlie Batch (!!!) beat Tampa in early 2010. Here’s Batch’s stat line for that game (oh, I love this so much): 12/17, 186 yards, 10.9 avg, 3 TD, 2 INT, 106.5 rating, 99.9 QBR, all in a game in which the Steelers won 38-13! Two interceptions! A blowout! A QB rating that was nice but hardly anything special! And that was almost perfect according to QBR."

Has to be one of the silliest stat inventions on record.
It takes 2500 words just to describe it. lol

That is NOT to say there aren't flaws in the regular QB rating. Guess it's all relative.

Traditional passer rating has the strongest correlation to wins of any individual stat, so it's hardly a "poor metric."

ESPN's Total QBR wasn't designed to correlate to wins, but it does take game situation into consideration. Prescott ranks so much higher by the ESPN stat because of his "expected points added" (he's been great on 3rd down), and to a lesser extent because he's got a couple of rushing TD.

Traditional passer rating on 3rd down (min 20 att).
Manning 116.4
Rodgers 115.8
Prescott 112.1
Rthlsbrgr 107.9
Siemian 106.1
Ryan 103.2
Winston 101.6
Taylor 101.3
Flacco 98.4
Wentz 96.8

3rd-down passing conversion percentage of these QB.
Prescott 53.3
Flacco 50.0
Siemian 50.0
Manning 48.1
Rthlsbrgr 47.2
Rodgers 46.4
Ryan 45.5
Winston 43.8
Taylor 35.0
Wentz 34.6
