What if Austin didn't go off and we lost that game...

I seriously doubt this team would've been able to battle back from 2-3 and make the playoffs.

This thought crossed my mind several times. As a matter of fact, I often wondered if Austin didn't go off throughout the season, would another receiver have filled his shoes?

Absolutely not. Austin got it done against most team's best corner and eventually starting drawing bracket and double coverage.

Our boy Roy struggled against each team's 2nd best corner, and man coverage all year long.

Ogletree was a serious bright spot but he's one more full season away from being ready. It took Austin almost 4.

We all knew what we are going to get from Crayton, he's had big games but he reaps the benefits of having Austin and Witten constantly drawing coverage away from him.

I forgot T. Choice showed out in this game, Garrett needs to find some touches for him also this year.

I love how Austin smiles while he runs for a TD.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo completed 20 of 34 for 351 yards and two TDs.

Austin leads Cowboys past host Chiefs

It was over when ...

Cowboys receiver Miles Austin scored on a 60-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tony Romo in overtime.

Game ball

Austin set a club record with 250 receiving yards, eclipsing the previous mark held by Hall of Famer Bob Hayes, who had 246 on Nov. 13, 1966. Aside from catching the winning score, Austin put the Cowboys ahead late in the fourth quarter on a 59-yard touchdown reception.

Key Stat

Thanks in large part to Austin, the Cowboys averaged close to 18-yards per completion. Dallas had three plays of at least 17 yards in the fourth quarter. Austin had three receptions for 153 yards in the fourth quarter.

Noteworthy

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns, including one to Mike Vrabel, who now has 11 TD receptions in his career. ... Cowboys RB Felix Jones missed the game, and Tashard Choice led the team with 92 rushing yards and a touchdown. ... Chiefs RB Larry Johnson ran 21 times for only 37 yards.

Thanks for the memory. I was at that game and it was cold. Of course jumping up and down and screaming like a banshee all during the fourth quarter and overtime warmed me up a bit.

some quick notes:
  • I forgot how ugly we played much of the 1st half because I will
always remember this game as the game where Miles blew up.

  • Where was the flag for late hit on Witten OoBs?

  • Where was the flag for the horsecollar on Austin?

  • The Ball penalty...are you kidding me??

I'm sorry, but the refs just blew that game.

edit to add:

  • Ratliff is a stud.
  • Choice had some sweet runs.

We are lucky to be so stack with backs.
