Jerry suggested, O-line wasn't the first option in Rd1 given the four other guys but not off the board.
Stephen suggested they don't value DT's in the 1st round without pass rush

Tendencies
1) They pick players that visit
2) They like guys with high SPARQ scores
3) They like guys from big programs
4) They tend to go for guys that fit positional measurables

Visits:
Calvin Ridley WR Alabama 1st round
Leighton Vander Esch LB Boise St 1st round
Will Hernandez OG UTEP 1st round
Rashaan Evans LB Alabama 1st-2nd round
Nyheim Hines RB NC State 3rd/4th round
Deshon Elliott SS Texas 4-5 round
Daurice Fountain WR Northern Iowa 5-6th round
Nathan Shepherd DT Fort Hayes State 2nd/3rd round
Austin Corbett G Nevada 2nd/3rd round
Vyncint Smith WR UDFA

**Still 20 visits left**

They also met with Jewell, Sweat Wynn, and DJ Moore were people we spoke to at the combine

SPARQ standouts:
Troy Apke 145.1
Leighton Vander Esch 141.5
DJ Moore 137.0
Kolton Miller 129.0
Micah Kisah 126.0
Nathan Shepard 116.4
Braden Smith 114.1
* Tremaine and Terrell Edmunds did not complete all tests but would have been standouts.

Decent for O-line/D-line:
Will Hernandez 106.0
Austin Corbett 98.2

Not so good for the position:
Deshaun Elliott 116.0
Josey Jewell 113.0
Calvin Ridley 99.0

Mocking based on above evidence:

Rd 1: Leighton Vander Esch (LB) *Need, Visit, SPARQ, Position Measurables
Rd 2: Braden Smith (OG) *Need, SPARQ, Position Measurables
Rd 3: Nathan Shepard (DT) *Need, Visit, SPARQ, Position Measurables Negative: Small School
Rd 4: Nyheim Hines (RB) *Visit, Specific role, Position Measurables
4th Compo: Troy Apke (S) *Need, SPARQ, Position Measurables
5th: Daurice Fountain (WR) *Visit, Position Measurables

in no particular order, are probably your top targets at 19 if there.

Couldn't agree with you more on the mindset of the Cowboys and how they draft, but man I hope we bring in some more draft visits!!!

LVH at 19 is way too rich for me. I could get on board with rounds 2 and 3 though.

I don't like LVH at 19 either. Unfortunately he ticks a lot of boxes that leans towards him being the pick.

3xcellent post

Uggghhhhh I know, but in the top 20 I do not want a one year wonder.

Almost rather have Wynn who's a stud even though the value of the position is lower.

Can't wait to see how it shakes out.

We brought in Nathan Shepherd? Nice. My pet cat. Love that dude in the 3rd. I don't even know where his college is located, but he came into the Senior Bowl and the only way they could stop him beating Hernandez was to break his hand.

One of the most underrated DTs in the draft imo.

Bucky Brooks just said at 19 we may well draft a playmaking TE like Hurst or Goedert. I don't like that at all..I think one of the 2 will be available at 50. At 19 I still like Will Hernandez or Vander Esch. My guy DJ Moore is prolly off our draft board at 19 because of Hurns.

I really dont think we draft a TE even with our late Rd picks.

One of the better and more well thought out post I’ve seen on here for awhile. Been spending my time up in the chaos that is the fan zone during free agency. Nice to read something of quality after being up their lol

Heard Shepherds's name a lot lately.
He seems like a very good player.
Does seem to fit Marinelli's type at 1T.
I'd be happy with him in the third round.

he is the same genius who posted his mock and forgot Georgia LB Roquon Smith......then had to go back and re-adjust.
he's chatter.
ignore.

Great post.

Just as a side note though - I got looking up SPARQ scores from our past draft classes the other day, and it looks like it didn't really factor in in 2017. We were fanatical about it from 2014-16, I don't think we picked a single dude who was below the 40th percentile, even in the seventh round. But last year, our first pick was Taco, who was like a 48th percentile DE, and we took him over TJ Watt who was like a 95th percentile DE. Chido was definitely a height-weight-speed guy, but Lewis and Switzer both had really poor measurables, they were like 20-some percentile NFL athletes. I think the only above average athletes we even took were Chido and Woods.

That kind of sudden about-face on SPARQ scores was really weird. If I was a betting man, I'd say we go back to favoring measurables this year, but it's a trend to watch for.

excellent work.
Ucla OT Kolton Miller is also a pre-draft visit.
he could be the pick in Rd 2.

SPARQ monster
Power 5 school
Fills a need (if they really do plan on moving Collins like rumored)
Official visit.

Good work.

I'm not certain that they are overly focused on SPARQ numbers. I think they look at them more than they might have at some point in the past; however, some draft picks they've made don't seem like high SPARQ guys.
Taco ?
DLaw ?
TWill
Frederick
Hitchens
Wilson
Frazier
Anybody in 2017 other than Awuzie ??

It would be interesting to see the SPARQ numbers for their last few draft classes.
