I do believe today was more of an outlier with the defense. I think they just had a bad game. I am not giving them a pass and still have concerns about their run defense. But, they are playing a non mobile qb this week and will come out with something to prove against NE.

Again…I’m not defending anything about this team’s performance or the last three decades of results. I’m just pointing out that we have 14 games left. We‘ve played approximately 18% of the season. It’s early.

If we had beaten the cards today by 3 TDs it would still be too early to declare this team great. If the Cowboys beat the pats by 20 next week I will still say it’s too early to declare them good again, lol.

Dallas never plays well in Arizona. Maybe there is an ancient Indian burial ground there that curses Cowboys? :muttley:

All teams lay an egg at some point but there are some concerning issues here. OL health, linebackers and the redzone offense are the most glaring. I don’t expect to know more after NE and SF but October will tell the tale on their 2023 future.
I hate playing there. I feel like because there are so many Cowboy fans there we get a sense of relaxation and passiveness instead urgency and aggressiveness. That was what worried me all week about this game. We never play well there and hearing all of the 'best team in the NFL' nonsense. I had a feeling today may not go well and unfortunately I was right. I also feel like that could have happened next week had we won this game today. Next week would have been the ultimate as they say 'trap game' had we won today. Now I think the Patriots will have our full attention next Sunday.

This is exactly the right approach. Everything could change with an Eagle loss today or next week coupled with a win next week and then a win against the Niners. Then everyone will be back on the bandwagon again. There just too many games left to just completely give up on the season. We are 2-1 not 1-2 or 0-3.

We're a playoff team. Just don't think we're a SB team. I picked them to finish 11-6 so I shouldn't be surprised because they always have a few games where they play down to their competition.

The Patriots will be in trouble next week and I feel sorry for anyone betting against Dallas. This has no correlation the next week in SF though :muttley:

Three games are never enough to judge an NFL team’s future. I’ve always said it takes until at least mid-October to judge a team.

Look, today was an absolutely terrible and lackluster showing by the Cowboys. No defending any of it. The penalties, the blown defensive assignments, the lack of intensity, the lack of red zone success…there’s plenty to point at in this putrid performance.

But by the same token- deciding we were Super Bowl bound and “worthy of respect” after 2 whole regular season games is every bit as silly as deciding this team sucks based on one bad game.

Here’s my point: It’s too early in the season to declare much about any team yet. Why?
Since so many teams don’t play their starters much or at all in the preseason, the early part of the 17 game NFL season is a real roller coaster ride. Even coaches are still trying to figure out what is working and what isn’t and what player combinations are best in various situations.

Here are some interesting tidbits about the first 3 weeks of the NFL season:
  • The chiefs didn’t look that great the first two weeks but did today. The first two weeks they averaged 18 pts a game. Today they scored 41. Which version is the real one? Obviously all their problems the first two weeks have been solved? Obviously the chiefs are great. But they didn’t start that way.
  • The dolphins hung 70 on the broncos today. Is that an outlier or is Miami suddenly all world? Miami will never be stopped by anyone all season, right?
  • The hapless Houston Texans destroyed the defending AFC South champs the Jaguars in Jacksonville 37-19. CJ Stroud looked great and Trevor Lawrence didn’t. I’m sure everyone saw that coming. Are we all picking the Texans to win the division now?
  • The colts upset the unbeaten Ravens in Balt behind the great Garner Minschew who threw for more yards than Lamar Jackson. I’m sure everyone would rather have Minschew than Jackson now? Are the ravens terrible or are the colts great?
  • The eagles are 2-0 going into Tampa tomorrow night and we all know the Bucs have no chance right?
Welcome to the 17 game NFL season folks. This is not the time to make conclusions. In other words- It takes way more 3 games to know what kind of team you have. This is a marathon not a sprint. Champions are never crowned in September.

Btw- The Cowboys play again next week. Another week- another opponent. Another opportunity to improve and build or show us they need more work than many thought..
Thanks, Bob.

We couldn’t on you to be a voice of reason!

When is it not too early to judge? There are 14 games left. You tell me.

I get all that Bob but I have been a Dak supporter, is he really our guy to lead us? His accuracy is so worrisome and decisions at times leaves you shaking your head. Today was obviously not all on Dak and the entire team was not prepared and looked like garbage, including the coach staff. They read their press clippings and all the hype and really believed they were Super Bowl bound. This was maybe the best thing that could of happened to them bringing them down to earth in embarrassment. Throw this one away and let’s regroup for New England.

It doesn't but I do feel like we are going to play very well in SF. That game has been circled by Dallas for a while. There won't be any taking them lightly in that game. Whether we win or not is a different story.

Bullet it's for sure a marathon not a Sprint.

All I look for anymore is good football to watch and that wasn't it today.

Long season or not we got some issues first off we can't stop the run and second of all we struggle mightily in the red zone and can't score touchdowns.

If we don't fix these problems in a big hurry it's going to be a long walk to the finish line with a stone in our boot.

Bob is spot on as usual. He tried to warn everyone . And this is a reminder it’s a long season . These things can happen.

But the bigger point is too many fans bought in to the hype too soon. And we still haven’t played anybody yet.

Like Jimmy said , there are no East Carolina’s in the NFL. It’s a potential battle every week.

What we did learn or reaffirm concern is the health of our OL is a continuing issue. It was some of us fans biggest concern coming in.

And while this new Texas Coast offense shows some promise , Redzone offense is still an issue.

On defense, Parsons all too often becomes ineffective. It’s like he becomes disinterested at times. He’s not even in there all the time. Our greatness revolves around him. When he’s not dominating neither is our defense.

This team is probably going to be a repeat of last year, Wild Card, maybe pick up a win in the playoffs then off for the summer.

Two things, first St. Louis wasn't impressed with the zero to forty time on Mica Parson and no team should walk off with 184 rushing yards in a half against the Dallas Cowboys. Every one on my team would be running a 100 wind sprints today to include all offensive linemen without fail.

Issue a boat load of salt tablets and rolls of tape and hold all positional meetings in mass on the carpet...

Trust me, I’m not ever going to defend the lack of results for the last 3 decades or the guy who’s been in charge of it all for the 7 head coaches that have worked under him since Jimmy left.

Our fans have every right to be tired of this. I’m just saying we have 14 games left. It’s not over this season.
I'm watching the Philadelphia game tonight...and New England already looks tough.

Honestly, it seems that way with how we never seem to be able to beat them.

I knew this team wouldn’t go 17-0. What surprised me though is how unprepared and disinterested they looked yesterday. Almost as if they thought just by showing up they were going to win. I thought the mind set of this team was different this year. I guess not. Upsets happen but the way this game went down was alarming. I’m not so sure they are on the 49ers level.

We don’t have a mahomes or a qb that gets better as the season goes on. It’s quite the opposite with our guy.
But you have an OL that will get better with likely at least Biadasz and Martin. And if Tyler’s hamstring gets better he can go to LT and Edoga LG
