Well it's finally here. It's more than I thought it would be. Look around the league. The goal of the league has finally come to be.
Teams have to choose with the salary cap and salaries which direction they prefer. Quality skill players or quality lines. Rarely will the 2 ever exist on the same team anymore. The cowboys and eagles are good examples of this. Sure our line played better today. So did the chiefs against the ravens last week. The reality is that sloppy football is here to stay.
It's looking like 80% of the league will be 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 by the end. The old days some of us over 30 remember when the league had 4-5 strong teams that kick everyone's butts all year and face off in the playoffs is over. Now it's teams like the Giants of last year that barely make the playoffs winning the super bowl.
This is great for casual fans that wear the jerseys to the sports bar and want an excuse to drink next to some hot bimbos that show up around playoff time. For us die hard old school passion fans we will have to pull back and just realize that most games will be decided by the teams that have the ball last or who are on the lucky side of a few calls.
The eagles beat the ravens and browns the same way they lost to the lions today. The cowboys lost this way and will again. We will win some this way also. In the end we will be like the other 80% and be in the mix at the end. That the way the nfl wants it. They think these fantasy football fans are the answer.
For me.... I have pulled back and realize not to get emotionally invested to much in this inferior product that has become the NFL. I get more excited over the next episode of Reveloution Monday night than Monday night football. Or walking dead premier tonight..... That's sad. But that's what this league has done to one of its biggest fans.
