Well, here you go Hostile

I know he doesn't play the traditional type football that we all like, but he IS a proven coach...

I know you West Virginians have a grudge... and you have a right to...

Yeah most of us have a grudge and we could list a multitude of reasons not to like him as a person.

However I will say that except for his stint at Michigan, he has been a winner.

As far as a coach, Arizona could do worse but they could do better as well.

As far as character and morals...they scraped the bottom of the barrel IMO.

Can't believe Michigan ever hired the guy.

Although I wish he was still there. :D

He just seems like slim to me.

(1) So sad too because he had it made at WVU. He was an alum, and a former player.

(2) I will interject here that before Pat White he was pedestrian at WV.
We were trailing Louisville 24-7 in the 3rd quarter when A. Bednarik got injured. Pat White came in and along with Steve Slaton brought us back and we beat them in 3 OT's. And so the "Pat White era" began.

(3) They may have poked a hole in the bottom.

I wanted Mike Leach ... But I agree with Hostile ... i would have kept Mike Stoops over hiring Rich Rod. This is a seriously crappy hire. Oh well ... U of A will always be a basketball school anyways.

You a Cat fan?

I'd have gladly taken Leach over him.

I'm not saying the guy can't coach. I don't think he fits the Pac 12 and I don't think he fits AZ at all. He has never recruited on the West Coast, in AZ or Texas, which is our recruiting field.

I do not like the spread offense. I never have, I never will.

Much like when Barry Switzer arrived in Dallas, I look forward to the day that is his last.

what about urban meyer? if ohio state wasn't interested in him right now, would arizona have hired him instead?

I don't even care if RichRod likes tacos.

That is how much I dislike this move.

Urban Meyer would only come out of retirement for a premium job. And probably only something that really interests him (something he has ties to). Ohio State is one of those jobs and i think the other would have been Notre Dame. Dont think he would have wanted the clean up job that will be required at Penn State. He is an OSU guy so Michigan is out.

Yea ... i went to U of A back in the late 80s for about a year. Wound up running out of cash and moving back up to Phoenix to finish college living with my parents and going to night school.

Rich Rod will be a total failure at U of A ... he has no idea how to recruit against the likes of USC, UCLA, and Oregon. Also he has no ties to Texas High schools either.

Why did they hire this worthless dude? He brought some back water school (wv) to the cusp of the national title game ??? He didnt even get into the National championship game.

At least LEach would have put his no holds barred arial attack on display. Just think of all the kids from Cali who would have lined up to throw and catch the ball in that offense.

No, that was Pat White that did that.

He didnt even get into the National championship game.

Now that was all Rodriguez.

Exactly man. In order I hoped for...

1. Chris Peterson
2. Paul Chryst
3. Mike Leach

Give me 7 more and Rich Rodriguez among them and he'd have been 10th on the list for me. I do not want a guy with a proven track record of NCAA violations.

If ASU fires Dennis Erikson after the season and gets one of those 3 (Peterson, Chryst, Leach) im gonna be really pisssed.

No joke.

I can't believe they didn't go after Mike Leach. Talk about a perfect fit for Arizona. And if you're gonna get a guy who is all Offense, no Defense, he's it.

I think Michigan will go after Chryst pretty aggressively...

Always the troublemaker.

Yeah I know...

It makes sense... he is Big 10 and I think Michigan wants to get back to that style...

He's also an outstanding coach...
