Incredible. The adware is to be expected these days, but installing a Root Certificate which could allow a man in the middle attack is just crazy. I have a feeling they will feel the hit on their bottom line for making this stupid and reckless decision to allow Superfish to install this stuff on their machines.

They will no longer get my business which is a shame as I liked the products I have bought from them (laptop and a desktop).

Lenovo makes good products, but I have issues with their ownership by the Chinese gov't.

Well, and these problems too.

They have admitted to it.

Now they are saying they will put out a removal tool today so anyone with a current product with it can remove it.

Have to imagine that they will not put it on future products.

What is also easy to imagine is that they try doing it with other programs so it would be hard to trust them going forward.

I manually removed it last night thanks to a heads up by iceberg.

That said with all the bloatware these companies pre-load onto the laptops, I'm honestly quite surprised that this is the only known incident of it happening.

I like my new laptop, tho. At some point, I'm going to scrub it of some of the bloat that's on there.

Get a trial version of malwarebytes to see what it finds. May have already put stuff on there.
