more or less. He irritates me too, but the guy was right. We have slow, plodding, unathletic guys up front in Colombo, Davis and Flo: they are powerful but slow and unathletic. Gurode is just..........dumb as Parcells use to point out and Kozier is serviceable but nothing more. WTH do we do to revamp this unit? That's the most pressing question in my mind. Wade, Red, RW, and MB3 threads are all window dressing for the biggest problem........:bang2:

BTW: I know safety, LB and WR need to be addressed too....but they are inconveniences compared to the oline: Houck's job safe? Dunno, but it shouldn't be......

Draft them in rounds 1 and 2!

se need to draft WRs in the first round too. If we did, we wouldn't be relying on Detriot-rejects who are stuck in college to represent 1/2 of our passing offense on the edge.

Do we have an OL built for down and dirty power football, but we have an OC that want's to be a pass first "finesse" offense?

I don't think they suck, again Minnesota has the best DL in football, the Williams boys in the middle are a load for anyone.

The O line is OK vs the run, but they are bad vs the pass. I was nervous about this O line all year long. I thought that it was the weak link to this team and yesterday they proved it.

First pre-season game in the new stadium against the Titans Romo was having to scramble around to avoid pressure. It concerned me then.

It's never been fixed since the playoff game against the Giants.

as long as you have WRs that need dbl moves to get open and a Qb who cant read a defense or cant call the correct audible... you will always need an ALL PRO OLINE!

I think Safety and Lb can wait, we need OL and WR. Our OL is the oldest in the league and Roy Williams should is the 4th best WR in our team, the guy is a fraud.

If they played well all season and sucked against the Vikings than we need a change or just hope we can make it to a SB without having to face them again.

We need an OL than can block every DL in the league and every scheme, if we find that, with the skill players we already have on the team, we will win the SB. The worse thing is that, for the past 3 years, on our final game, the OL melts, we are not able to protect the QB or run the ball and we end up losing the game.

perhaps a mix of both yesterday...our O-line is ancient and Minny's D-line is tremendous, so u get what u get. Not real big on Jason Garrett, but won't blame him for the pressure the Vikings got yesterday. Romo needs to do a better job in the pocket and certainly could learn how to read defenses and audible....

Romo could not even get set, before he had to move to avoid a sack. Not even Joe Montana could have had success behind our OL against the Vikings. Romo became the starter because of his quick release and his mobility, so IMO this game was lost because of the OL.

........good point 'diehard' and one I thought of during yesterday's game: what DOES that say about Philly's dline? But what KILLS me is the fact Red and/or Houck just REFUSE to adjust. Ever heard of MAX protect? Once Flo went down I'd have Phillips, Bennett, Witten all in the game on passing downs with Free, Kozier, Gurode, Davis and Colombo. Witten helping Free and Bennett helping Colombo on EVERY passing down with phillips as the hback to clean anything up. Didn't see that at all: Witten on Allen one on one was just........brutal. So my package would only allow for two receivers in the pattern: so be it!! Gotta keep #9 upright. Austin and Crayton could get open with Ogletree subbing in. RW wouldn't make the cut........Red gets so hell bent on running his offense he just will not make the proper adjustments and tweaks.

Funny, everytime we try and get "down and dirty" we fail.

Maybe the coach see's something in his line to be a "finesse offense"

No he didn't.

I did the recap of the interview and he said our Offensive Line was good but not great.

Now what he did say is that the Vikings Defensive Line would win the line of scrimmage.

This Dallas offense has been finesse, somewhat cerebral, since the Super Bowl days. It hasn't been good in the shortyardage situations, since then.

Blobbing the Boys had a good take here, today:

Today, the offensive line again came up short. Look at Dallas' losses this year and you see a motif -- the line was overmatched in some way. It gave up five sacks to the Broncos, on a day when Dallas scored just 10 points. It gave up another 5 sacks to Green Bay. Dallas scored just seven in that contest. The line could not generate a running game in Giants II: Dallas gained just 45 yards on 23 rushes in that game. Against the Chargers, it could not convert 2nd and goal from the one.

Today, the line created some running room to the edges but got Romo sacked six times and hit numerous other plays. When Dallas was in third and short, Jason Garrett made no pretense of trying to run. He called successful passes on Dallas first two 3rd-and-short situations. On the second, a 3rd-and-1, Dallas went straight to the shotgun and didn't even try a play action fake.

I think Garrett and Hudson Houck got the maximum out of this bunch, but their best wasn't good enough. Today, it wasn't close. The line will need youth and depth if the Cowboys want to build on this year.

Myself, I think this unit is what it is, and quickly getting older at that. Jason needs to better integrate their very abilities in selection and developing up a scheme of attack. Better utilization of what he has, to be able to attack an opponent in a manner similar to New Orleans...

In the meantime, I think two high draft picks, top level are needed. One at offensive tackle and one in the interior line position.

No, they didn't, and even if they had, failing when it mattered the most this season is still a huge reason for making significant changes.

Jerry's changed his ways on a lot of issues, but he still doesnt get that this isnt 92 when it comes to the oline, he is obsessed with having a huge oline.
