Games of this magnitude come around very seldom.
If the Cowboys should find a way to beat the Patriots, they will likely win out the rest of their regular season schedule, go deep in the playoffs, and Jason Garrett will secure a lengthy extension. Jerry will feel justified in his desire to keep Garrett and feel as if his plan is paying off.
But if the Cowboys lose, the reality of their mediocrity will continue to set in.
I think the Cowboys will win the East; there's not really a competition there. But if they somehow manage to beat the Patriots in Foxboro I think they finish 12-4 and make it to the NFC Championship game.
For the Patriots, a loss could signal the end of the Tom Brady era.
I think the Cowboys lose big, but there is a lot riding on this game.

I think people are making way too much out of one regular season game because it's the Patriots.

If the Cowboys win it means this, this, and this!

If the Cowboys lose it means this, this, and this!

It's a regular season game vs an AFC team. The Cowboys have/had more important games on their schedule.

I guarantee the players for the Cowboys are keying on how they fare in this game. A win could give them a huge boost of confidence.

No way. The Pats have only played ONE team with a winning record (Ravens) and LOST. Cowboys will be their 2nd team to play with a winning record.

Had it not been for Agholor, Egals would have probably beaten the easy schedule Pats as well.

I'm sure a win today would have the same long-term impact the OMG, huge win over the Saints had last season.

That sounds good, but they are STILL the Patriots.

It's a good measuring stick game, but I don't think winning this game would necessarily signal their ability to win out the season.
I agree that Garrett might get an extension if they win the SB.

If the Cowboys win, they will be 7-4 and if they lose they will be 6-5.
I just the Eagles to lose today no matter what Dallas does, but hopefully we win and go up 2 games on the Eagles.

Win it does not mean this team turned any corners, or proved a thing.
Lose it means they still have work to do to improve.

This is just a game. Win, and maybe we get a little jumpstart on our swagger. But that stuff only matters if you also execute well. Take care of the football. Take the football away. Do those things better, and this team can beat anybody.

Totally agree here, win this game the Cowboys could easily lose all the rest of their games, this team has not been consistent for a long time who the heck knows what they might do. I would not count on them winning out and going deep into the playoffs just because of a win today though..

 No, games “of this magnitude” are not that rare - key games against strong opponents happen every year. And no, whether we win or lose does not determine whether we win out and go deep in the playoffs or not, and is not the moment in his long career that will determine Brady’s future.

What this is (“this” being the OP), is melodrama. Soap Opera. The National Inquirer. Skip Bayless.

You are ignoring the "human" factor if you think the players aren't affected by a game like this

That's a Garrett attitude. That's why he can't win big games. Make no mistake, the players see this as a big game. If Garrett and his staff don't, they need to go! They need to go anyway!!! Lol

I’m not ignoring it, i’m just not overblowing and over dramatizing it. There is always some impact with all games, and this one could give a boost, but this isn’t a movie. The players have played a lot of football games over a lot of years, and they have seen a lot of ups and downs and ebbs and flows, They aren’t going to ride a big screen type wave of emotion to great heights or plummet into the abyss based on one game.

What do you think the Ravens would do to Dallas?
