We have a cottage in Upstate NY that is 2 hours away from Ottawa, and we decided to make the trip up to see a CFL game. It was Ottawa vs. Edmonton and neither of them scored a touchdown. The final score was 10-8 and I learned that teams get a point if their field goal or punt winds up in the endzone. This was the majority of points scored in the game.

The talent in that league is HORRIBLE. Yes, I expected it to be worse than the NFL but these dudes probably couldn't beat a majority of Division 2 college teams. Had to be at least 20 dropped passes in the game (not exaggerating) and 3 times where a touchdown would have been scored but it resulted in a fumble recovery for the other team. QBs consistently under throw their receivers and the 2 and out rule made the game much longer than it needed to be.

The moral of the story: be thankful we have the NFL and not the CFL. It was pretty funny to watch, but dang was it terrible football!

We need to keep perspective when calling guys "horrible." I play with a few guys who have tried out and played in the CFL. They're not NFL prospects, not even close, but they are head and shoulders above what most people would consider good athletes. The discrepancy is astounding.

I still don't think the average fan comes even close to grasping how skilled/athletic guys in the NFL actually are.

It's the equivalent of D2 football in the US. Interestingly, some of the players who were awful in the game were just recently cut.
