Werder: Amari likely going resign before Dak

Dak may never be re-signed so saying Amari may get signed first isn't really saying much, Ed Werder.

Good. Then they can franchise Dak
It wouldn’t be good if we franchise him, the whole $33m would count agains the cap and we really need to have as much free cap space as possible to sign a corner and a DT

and I expect Amari will be the No.1 or 2nd highest paid WR in NFL when said and done. A deal that probably could have been done long ago, but the Cowboys (the Jones) really do seem to believe and work off that " Deadline make Deals " theory.

the Cowboys are gonna overpay for him without question, but they can less afford to go that much more of a step or two backwards in this supposed Win-now mode they want to be in.
- that's less of a rapport guy for Dak, ..
-.that's less of a concern about getting in position to get a hopeful stud WR with the 1st round, .
.- and that's less of a need to draft an offensive guy in the 1st round and can be more directed to the defense,..

*Re-sign. That dash is very important.

I don't know. I think it's very likely that Amari will resign before Dak. Receivers generally have shorter careers than quarterbacks. I think whether Amari re-signs before Dak is less of a sure thing.

Sign Amari. Forget about Dak and go get Brady.
I know it will never happen, but I would be interested to see what Tom Brady could do with this offense.
If Jerry is REALLY desperate to win a Super Bowl within the short window he envisions for himself, couldn't hurt to get Brady behind this stellar offense he has assembled.

I knew this was coming. You don't disappear for half a season, in every road game, against every elite corner and get to call the shots in a negotiation.

Amari ain't a dog, so he won't get paid like one.

Other than Witten, I believe McCarthy wants to keep last year's offense intact. Obviously, the key to that is re-signing both Cooper and Prescott.

I know those re-signings have been debated ad nauseu, but I'm more concerned about how they address the defense.
