There is one move #Cowboys owner Jerry Jones can make that will demonstrate he’s fully committed to winning at any cost, willing to spend for the best in coaching and capable of relinquishing organizational control to do so. Pay the $10M buyout and hire Bill Belichick, who has the most Super Bowl wins in NFL history.

Are we really sure Belichick is worth it? He's already in his 70's and probably has one 5 year contract in him at best. It'll take a few years to get the roster right, though he may could actually force Jerry to make the correct personnel moves. But if I remember correctly he was often as cheap as Jerry in free agency. Didn't ever win much without Brady, and I'm sure I won't be the first person to point out in this thread that Dak isn't Brady. We need someone who can get the best out of Dak with creative schemes, an emphasis on the run game, and good play calling. I do not want Josh McDaniels as our OC.

Good luck getting that buyout figure past Stephen.

Also if they wanted to hire Belichick it would have already happened. If they do it now they look even more dumb…if that’s possible.

The whole thing is being done on the fly btw. I’m sure they were counting on Mike coming back for a two year extension for essentially free.

They didn't know what they wanted to do with Mike lol

Yeah, no. I’m not sure Belicheck would have been the right pick to begin with. Add a 10 million dollar buyout? Absolutely not. The Cowboys need a younger coach with some fire in his belly. He needs to demonstrate the willingness to hold players and assist coach accountable.

Yeah they did. They wanted him to sign up to work cheap for a minimal period, and expected it because he couldn’t pull off miracles with a light roster.

Mike has been around enough to know that this franchise is not run normally and he can’t win here. I’m pretty sure this was more Mikes decision than the other way around.

I totally agree.

Belichick would be a sign that this organization is actually serious.

Just don’t let him GM.
Bold part is the key...I have no doubt Bill is still a top coach in this league, but his ability to pick players the last few years has been terrible.

smart job Mike, get out of the circus!!!!!!!!

Mr. Blue Suit has spoken!

Jerry Jones could have easily fired Mike McCarthy over a month ago and lured Belichick to Dallas already. It did not happen. Not sure why anyone believes Jones will take the 'correct action' when actual events played out like he wanted.

It is like some people have forgotten something relevant. This head coaching transition is playing out in almost the same way as Jason Garrett's did. Jones did not fire Garrett before the end of his contract's final season. Jones allowed his contract to expire. Jones hired McCarthy afterwards.

Now, sports media pundits like Werder 'know' the correct action Jones should take--as if Jones has not already demonstrated what will probably be his actual course of action. Acquiring Bill Belichick cannot be ruled completely out but that particular hypothetical decision should not be at the top of anyone's speculation either. Jerry is still gonna Jerry.
