How do you guys feel about being in the dark when it comes to the free agency so far? I've only seen us linked to one name and that was Bethea which is probably BS. It kinda sucks not really having any clue as to who were interested in or if we are interested in any of these established players. But with that being said I'm happy that we didn't go out spending insane amounts of money on players like Nate Burleson and Julius Peppers. I'm quite content with the way free agency has gone so far being just a day into it but the feeling of being completely in the dark really sucks.

What players do you guys hope we look at or bring in? The guys I find intriguing are Jamal Williams, Atogwe, Ruvell Martin, Cory Redding, Kirk Morrison, and Chaun Thompson. But to be completely honest this whole group of free agents this year is quite unflattering, however there's always talent to be had via free agency.

It sucks as a fan but smart front offices do it. We don't wanna tip our hand to any competing teams.

I don't mind the fans or media not knowing anything personally. It makes me think the team is carefully weighing things and not impulse shopping. Fans and media are impulse shoppers. The Cowboys are goal oriented shoppers. It gives me some confidence.

I like it. I hope we don't bring in anyone, to be completely honest. The only player that I would have liked was Antrel Rolle but not at the price he was commanding, especially after seeing that contract he signed with NYG

Build through the draft, like New England has for a long time - we'll be better for it long term and won't have any more tank years where we go 5-11 for three consecutive seasons because we don't have any ammunition for the draft and we're tied up with a bunch of ridiculous contracts with players we won in the free agency sweepstakes. That might have been a run-on sentence, but you get the point :p:

i think *we* think we're entiteld to more than we are. it would be cool to know play by play but it's just not feasable to do that and maintain a business sense around it.

Building through the draft is definitely the way to go and I'm happy we have all our picks. We've done a great job drafting over the past few years or so under Wade and I have complete confidence in them doing a better job this year than last. Not that we did a bad job last year, but we had to do with what we had for picks and most of them were in the later rounds. I'm giddy about being in the first round again.

Hostile put it best. But it feels like the light switch is turned off and we're blindfolded at this point. As opposed to years past where we had some idea as to players we were thinking about signing. It's just a weird feeling.

I really don't feel blindfolded though.

The only really frustrating thing for me is that fans no longer care for reality. So the wildest possible speculations pass for topics and the media now is focused on what they can write that will get them the most Internet traffic.

They know they can spew a new story about Roy Williams and thousands of hits will happen as the fans lap it up. Forget the fact that the decision makers on the team do not agree with the assessments of the fans and media, they run with it anyway because the traffic is the need.

Don Henley wrote a song called Dirty Laundry. To me, that is all the news is anymore, Dirty Laundry. They tell us whatever they know will stir things up and make a stink.

What bothers me is that so few people see it and prefer instead to partake of the hysteria. The actual appreciation of football in its beauty has more and more become a myth. It's like people are trying to get a close up picture of a horizon.

One thing hasn't changed though despite the media feeding frenzy. The team is still professionally run and focused. There is no such thing in football as perfection. It is not possible. Yet it is demanded by fans and media daily. The great pursuit of fiction in a non fiction environment and it never stops.

I realize that, so I don't feel blindfolded. Never really have.

I feel sports journalism as a whole is dead. every now and than you might read a good piece by maybe Sham or Sturm for example. but other than that it's like you said whatever gets the most hits or views on a blog or stuff like that.

as to to TS I love it. I've felt for a little while now too many people have had big mouths within the organization around this time of the year. I also think it has hurt them in ways like missing out on a player or having to pay too much. only thing I don't like is i'm getting the feeling Ken Hamlin will still be here next season. which I wouldn't mind as long as he returned to his 2007 form. but than again it's still early so who knows what will happen.

If you look at the past winners of the Superbowl, none of them won with rosters stockpiled with big name free agent signings.

Maybe the team does not agree with the fan assessment of Hamlin.

I think it is too soon to know this one way or the other, but the possibility does exist.
