Small school OT David Mims is no longer a “sleeper”

David-Mims.jpg

When I was going over small school tape this summer, I was instantly intrigued by the size of Virginia Union OL David Mims who at 6-8 and 350+ pounds was at the time one of the bigger prospects in the entire draft. Now, it was pretty obvious that he didn’t have a firm grasp on what he was doing from a technique standpoint. However, for his size he was an impressive athlete with a long, strong set of arms, could bend and displayed some natural explosion off the football. He was an absolute dominant force at the D-II level and really opened my eyes with his ability to get out to the second level, breakdown and just destroy opponents on contact.

I would love to be able to get a big sleeper OT late to develop. I'm not sold on Sam Young. Derek Newton, Jah Ried, and David Mims are my three sleepers.

I want to forget him.

I had a man crush on Ramon Harewood last year as a late OT project for us, I was really bummed when the Ravens grabbed him just a couple of picks before ours. This guy might fit that mood as well.

We ended up taking Jamar Wall because we enjoy taking a bunch of CB's that stand no chance, and then cutting them before the season even starts. Great strategy, can't wait to see what useless prospects we waste late picks on this year.

Oh crap, Mims has 36" arms and benched 225 twenty-six times. If only he had abs, he'd be a franchise LT like Tyron Smith. :D

I'd rather go after Mims on the 2nd day than roll the dice on Smith with the 9th overall. Mims is more of a Houck type anyway, he's huge, agile & he likes to plant defenders in the ground.

Houck's got good taste don't he?

Herb Scott's old school.

Nice! Take advantage of the fact that your the only one on this board old enough to remember where Herb Scott went to school.
