Ouch!!!!

At least he got flagged for it.

I am glad he got flagged. That is why the rule was put in place about hitting a defenseless player. Unfortunately, the refs tend to use this same rule to situations that don't apply. They should send out this video to all the refs to illustrate exactly how it should be called.

Wow, that might be the best hit I have ever seen. Even if it wasn't legal

Welker got up and Walked off the field and returned to game - that is amazing

I don't have a problem with the hit

You knew it was gonna happen sooner or later.:laugh2:

It warms by heart to see that dude get slaughtered like that.

Nothing against welker, just something against the whole team.

one of the cleanest cheap shots you'll ever see.

I don't even know if I'd call it a cheap shot. It was a bang-bang play. By the time Clark launched the ball was still in mid-air, and once the ball was deflected Clark wasn't able to see that part, IMO.

It was worth it anyway, sends a message to the Patriots and all WRs around the league.

i was surprised he got up after that, almost looked like the hit troy p put on that kansas state player a few years back at SC

I agree with the call that it was a hit on a defenseless receiver, but it couldn't have been cleaner with respect to where Wes got hit. There were no helmets involved and Wes got up shortly after.

Legal hit
not even a fine

NFL even said penalty was wrong

He was flagged for leaving his feet or something but the NFL came out and said it shouldn't have been flagged. Wasn't illegal.

I like Ryan Clark, he's a former skin and wished we could've kept him....well....if we did, we may never have drafted Horton....ANYWAY! My point for posting is despite how much I like the guy, that was definitely a dirty hit. The ball was no where near Welker, and he'd already given up on the play. I know visibility is limited under a helmet, but there is no way he didn't know Welker wasn't catching the pass.

It was message hit, a "this is what you have to look forward to for the rest of the day" hit.

EDIT: By the way, I can't stand Welker. I liked him in Miami, but I got so tired of all the talk about him being a "Pro Bowl level" player. Please! The spent the whole season last year running the quick slant and drag routes against slower linebackers, if you can't consistently get open in that situation you don't deserve to be in the league. 'Bout time somebody woke him up on one of those gimmie routes.

Or he had his head to the side going for the big hit and didn't see Troy tip the ball. It wasn't dirty more like he had it timed perfect then Troy tipped it. What do you expect him to do? Say "Mr Welker yell to me if you catch it so I can run up and hit you afterward" Hell no make a play make a hit.
