Burton (6-foot-1 3/8, 224 pounds) – He had a 40 time of 4.38 and 4.44 seconds. He also turned in a 35-inch vertical and 10-4 broad jump to go with 19 reps on the bench.

CB Tae Evans (5-10 5/8, 193) – He had a 4.60 and 4.69 in the 40, 4.27 short shuttle and 7.06 three-cone drill. He posted a 34 1/2 vertical, a 10-1 broad jump and 16 reps on the bench.

QB Taylor Harris (6-2 3/8, 233) – He ran 5.15 and 5.17 in the 40, had a 7.32 three-cone and 4.68 short shuttle. He also posted a 24 vertical and 8-4 broad. He showed great arm strength, but lacks top-notch athleticism.

You know my problem with kids like this are that he can put up numbers like that and they simply don't match the production. With those kinds of numbers he should of dominated week in and week out.

The job of a scout is too find out why.

What the article failed to mention (I'm surprised Gil Brandt!) is another recent NFL "find" out of WT...another WR that is a pretty good deep threat and was one of the foremost Skins receiver last year - Anthony Armstrong. Their offense out at WT is putting out some decent talent.

That is absolutely correct. He has done a terrific job down there. Even when he had Ryan Leaf holding them back.

Does having a Jamarcus Webb from WTAMU slip to the 7th to the Bears last year gall you guys like it does me? We could use a good young tackle right about now.

I haven't really heard much about how Webb was doing there.

I can understand Webb slipping as well as other WT players. WT hasn't really been a powerhouse in the past, but the more success Carthel has there the harder it's going to be for NFL scouts to ignore West Texas.

I've got a couple of ex-students playing there right now. If nothing else, he's running a first class weight program.

Stephen Burton reminds me a little bit of Terrell Owens.

He's a big, muscular guy but he drops some easy ones. I got to see that guy outside of football and he'd do any team he can get onto credit.

And agreed on all fronts about Coach Carthel. He's done really great things down here since he's taken over.
