FoxSports.com's John Czarnecki reports that Brian Westbrook will need microfracture surgery once the season is over.

Westbrook is a game-time decision Sunday and will reportedly "try to play." But the news that he's delaying such a devastating surgery is ominous for fantasy owners. He may not quite be the same next year and it shows he's dealing with serious issues this season.

And that isn't one of those "automatic come back and play" repairs either. He may not be back to full strength for a couple years.

This IS unfortunate. He is an outstanding player.

I hope it isn't true as this injury has done in many players including Kalen Thorton and Justin Beirault this offseason.

If true, He is certainly not playing today.

That is frustrating. When you lose cogs like Kearse and potentially Westbrook-- that's some big time stuff. And it doesn't help that Stallworth can't stay on the field.

Thats rough. IIRC the bonuses involved were a pretty good chunk of that money considering how valuable he has been to that team and how grossly underpaid compared to less productive backs. Something like 10M.

Beirault's surgery was even more extensive than just the microfracture stuff-- he was doomed from the get-go.

Kevin Hardy came back and did OK.

Al Johnson hasn't lived up to potential-- I wonder how much of his problem is the knee or how much that set him back.

That sucks for any team. Dallas went through that with Galloway. Blow 2 #1's on a guy and a huge contract & have him suffer a torn ACL the first game of the season? It still hurts.
