Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo really getting in the swing of things this week.

I've already blogged about Romo's attempt to qualify for the HP Byron Nelson Championship. That's set for Tuesday.

Before that though, Romo will take his shot at qualifying for the U.S. Open. The outstanding Dallas National Golf Club hosting local qualifying Monday. I think its closed to the public, not sure, but at any rate I'm headed out there to see how Tony fares.

Why isn't he studying film? :banghead:

:D
I'm preempting the nonsense in hopes that it is now out of the way.

Ben Rotlessburger (did I almost get the name right) has also entered some golf tournament, but the dude has 2 Superbowls, so nothing will be said of it.

Unfortunately for Romo, until this team wins some playoff games and Superbowls, nothing he does will ever be okay.

Anyways, good luck, Tony.

Romo Takes Aim At U.S. Open Qualifier

Posted by rphillips at 5/11/2009 11:20 AM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

Weather permitting, quarterback Tony Romo will attempt to reach the sectional stage of the U.S. Open qualifying today at Dallas National Golf Club. Our Nick Eatman is braving the rain to track Romo's day.

Romo, a scratch golfer in his spare time, has fallen short of qualifying for the Open in recent years. He shot a five-over 75 at last year's local qualifier, finishing four shots short of a playoff to possibly clinch at spot in the sectionals.

Preemptive FYI: Romo has been a regular participant in the Cowboys' off-season strength and conditioning program as well.

Ben's playing in the US Open celebrity event. It's the one Tony played in last year with Timberlake. This year it's Timberlake, Michael Jordan and Roethlisberger.

But Tony's trying to actually qualify... So if he makes it, he'll play in the actual Open at Bethpage.

I'll repeat something I said yesterday in a thread in the Daily Zone.

Get it done Tony. Ignore the folks who criticize you for playing golf. They have no clue how many NFL players actually play golf and the fact you do it well is a great thing.

Right now as we type there are 31 other QBs in the NFL that are in a dark room watching game film while Romo works on his golf skills.

What a loser QB we have. Imagine what would happen if Tony actually applied himself...

In other words Tony is doing what needs to be done as well as having some off season time for himself? Tony like any player needs time away be it playing golf or taking a family vacation that many players do each and every year.

He should be praticing throwing the football with a glove so he has a better grip on it.

He seemed to have a pretty good grip on the 26 TD's he threw last season.

And on the 81 he's thrown over the last three seasons.

When he wins us a Super Bowl you have to write him an apology letter.

:laugh2:

Yeah, because then he wouldn't get a chance to qualify since he'd be playing football.

I don't know if I want him to do too well. The way some fans and media are treating him, Romo just might decide he'd rather play golf. :)

And pass up the chance to play with Buehler? Don't be silly.
