Day 2 at Cowboys mini-camp was less eventful than day 1, but it almost had to be.
Still no T.O., Ken Hamlin or Terry Glenn.
For those who were actually on the field, Pacman Jones is splitting time with incumbent starting cornerback Anthony Henry, while Henry is, as coach Phillips promised, is getting a look inside lining up against tight ends in some packages.
Henry did make a nice play to break up a pass intended for tight end Tony Curtis in passing drills.
Of course, Pacman is still suspended from the regular season at this point so Henry's move could be moot.
Pacman looked explosive and had good hands in positional drills. Secondary coach Dave Campo compared him, on the field, to top corner Terence Newman.
Pro Bowl guard Leonard Davis left the afternoon practice. After the session Phillips said the 354 pound guard was cramping up. Joe Berger replaced him.
With Glenn and Owens out, young receivers Sam Hurd and Miles Austin are getting extended looks. Both had moments Wednesday. Miles beat Newman for a touchdown and Hurd has looked strong throughout.
Maybe that's why offensive coordinator Jason Garrett isn't too worried about his offense remaining explosive. After all, Glenn played in just the regular season finale and playoff game last season, both losses.
"We certainly have a marquee receiver in Terrell Owens and we have some weapons around him," Garrett says. "Certainly our tight end is a weapon, our receivers I think they proved last year that collectively they can be a weapon.
"It's a collective effort it always has been. At any level of football I've been around you have to do it together and that's what we're trying to do."
Just a 1:30 practice tomorrow and coach Phillips news conference at 3:15.
