The Cowboys have been awful in the red zone in the past 3 games. I actually call the area inside the opponents 20 yard line "the green zone." Its where pro players make their money. Given that, the Cowboys are in a red zone recession. 9 trips in the last 3 games have netted just 2 touchdowns, and in 3 of those trips, they came away with no points at all! In this offensive-minded NFL that'll get you beat, unless of course, you're playing Carolina or Kansas City.

Both Tony Romo and Jason Witten told me to expect some different things when they get close to the goal line, "We've stressed that a little bit and we're going to do some different things down there," said Romo." "Not things that are that crazy, really just try to execute better."

Wade Phillips mentioned earlier in the week that guys like tight end Jason Witten have got to get involved and put in good situations there. Witten's response: "You love when they start mentioning your name in those opportunities, you just gotta be ready," he said. "Obviously a big deal was made because I didn't go out [at the end of] the Denver game, you just have to stay ready and when those opportunities present themselves you got to take advantage of 'em."

Interesting to note here, Phillips called for Witten by name. A not so subtle hint to offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

Because clearly the way for a Head Coach to tell his Offensive Coordinator how he wants some adjustments to the game plan is to make "not so subtle hints" to the media.

Heaven forbid they like, talk and stuff.

Although with these two you never know...

What about our other TE who is supposed to cause matchup problems for the defense?

None of the Phillips-bashers want to admit it, but he's taking hold of this offense. He's calling for Witten's involvment, the use of Tashard Choice and the running game, he's promoting Austin and demoting Crayton, he's also calling for Romo to get Roy Williams involved. Basically, Garrett has failed Philips as his assistant head coach and offensive coordiantor, so it's nice to see Phillips starting to dictate to Garrett to do the obvious things he can't figure out on his own are abvious. Kudos to the HEAD COACH acting like a head coach! :)
