The Cowboys voted in favor of a pair of rule changes the NFL will implement next season and head coach Jason Garrett is on board.

Kickoffs will be moved to the 35 yard line and while the competition committee considered having touchbacks brought out to the 25 yard line, they will continue to be brought out to the 20.

"The biggest thing is trying to address the issue of the injuries that are significant on this particular play, said Garrett. "They gave us a number of different statistics that suggest that its 4 times greater than other plays."

I agree with Jason Garrett here, that is very eye opening.

"What they're trying to do is something that best for the league," said Garrett, "and I think that's something that you know those plays are so significant and there's some statistical evidence that suggest those are the plays that are challenged the most, so I just think they're trying to clean up that process and its probably a good idea."

I agree. Automatically reviewing every scoring play is a great idea and should have been implemented years ago.

In other news, the trenches will now be decided by a game of patty cake.

Didn't they originally move the kickoffs back because guys like Stenerud were kicking out of the back of the end zone on a consistent basis and it made the game boring?

True, but now, Buehler can practice field goals on the kickoff. Like Eugene Upshaw once did in college on a regular basis.
