Apparently Roy Williams is not only expected to be the air-apparent of Terrell Owens on the Dallas Cowboys offense, he's also now serving as honorary judge of the receiver's court. That's right, you read it correctly, just call him "Your Honor" or "Judge Roy." His judicial power has a very narrow boundary... his jurisdiction runs only within the Cowboys wide receivers corp.

In an effort to improve their on-field production here at training camp the receiving corp has decided to self-impose a monetary fine system to keep things interesting. There are $ 10.00 fees for dropped passes, mental mistakes and for not finishing a play. However, on the flip side of the coin, they are awarded $ 10.00 for scoring a touchdown.

Cowboys Wide Receiver Patrick Crayton says he expects when all things are said and done there will be a nice dollar amount for a charity of their choosing.

Oh Arnold, one sentence and you already look like an idiot.

***? This was a decent blog, just presenting information, even if he doesn't understand homonyms.

I agree. Good information that I like hearing.

At least he called them a receiving "corps" and not a "core" like some homonym sufferers, although it should have an s at the end being a plural group.

Not to pile on poor Arnold, but I thought the WR fine-money was going to a dinner at the end of TC rather than charity. No?

Only $10?

Surely if it's going to a charity, these boys can do better.

If it's all receivers, I don't think that's true. Sure the guys who are roster locks could afford to do more, but guys who will be given PS contracts? Wouldn't really be fair to charge them 100 a pop for a drop.

I thought it was an intentional pun because he was referring to a wide receiver, but maybe I give the writer too much credit.

On a related note: How much would TO owe at the end of camp if he had to pay $10.00 for every dropped pass?:p:

I think it is more about guys having to stand up in front of others paying the fine than it is about how much the fine is.

Guess they plan on making tons of mistakes and only a few TDs. :laugh2:

Hair apparent.

Seems as if these WRs should be focusing on their skills and drills and not making goofy side competitions.
$10 for a drop pass to charity?
Just give the charity $1,000 from your outrageous salaries and shut the drop off.

Why football as other sports is all about competition. Making these kangaroo courts and handing out minor fines is a way of being accountable to each others. Dallas is not the only team to do it.

Not trying to claim this is a cure all method and in the end it is not about the money heck most of these guys will give money and time to charity that will raise a lot more money, it is about holding each other accountable.

I think he was playing on the fact that WRs do most of their work through the air

So the receivers have a fun little competition among themselves, doing some self-starting in penalizing themselves (however insignificantly) for drops, and in the process contribute to a charity or something (honestly it sounds like the blogger is confused as to exactly where this money is going) and half the thread replies so far are dogging the receivers for this?

Welcome to Cowboyszone. We hate everything.

I have no issue with this. It's a fun little way to get at one another, rib each other, and get each guy to work harder, concentrate more, and all that good stuff. I see nothing wrong with this at all.

Better this way than throwing each other under the media Bus
