The only pick I think may have been a bad one was Jenkins -- he's the typical great tools bad work ethic guy that Jerry always thinks he can turn around. Physically, he's really got it but he likely never had to work hard or be great technically because of those tools. This is a guy that a hard nosed coach might be able to get to

i don't get what jenkins has done for everyone to be down on him or think he is a bust. the kid played well when he was in the game. scandrick got more playing time because he is better suited for the slot and played very well there. jenkins will be fine on the outside when he gets more playing time. I think it was the eagles game where the kid made a great leaping play to knock a ball down. the only down play i really remember from him was the ward TD run.

otherwise, he played the soft arse scheme BS wanted just as well as the other corners the first half of the season. heck he did well his first start and even got a pick 6 against eli. he didn't get playing time because jerry wanted pacman in there and the staff doesn't have enough trust so they keep toting out henry who got beat by a 1 arm WR.

Hindsight drafts are usually a sign of the writer having no ideas on a real article. My hindsight drafts are all great too! Duh!

Cowboys fans should be glad it was as good as it was. It shows the scouting department's chops, and some good decisionmaking. Now if they can only find some good linemen.....

There were a lot of good corners to choose from but the best value is what I tried to go with. I liked basically all the late first round CBs including the one we actually took, but Donnie Avery would have been an ideal fit on this team as the speed threat of Austin with actual WR experience.

The guy had 53 receptions for 674 yards as a rookie in a horrid offense.

We would have had a CB depth chart of TNew, Pac, Henry, Scandrick. I wouldn't say that is a team bereft of corners. Now with Pac suspended or hurt, TNew hurting, Henry getting old ... then you get a bit light but we'd have had a solid 5th corner whoever we kept coming out of camp as the sillyblogger stated.

In my scenario we'd also have our first rounder this year.

Honestly my only regret is that I didn't grab a linebacker that was a great value somewhere. I know we haven't hit on them worth anything but this defense is built around them so they need to be stellar.

I'd have loved an OL as well but there are only so many picks:(

I think your draft blows... the bloggers out of the water!
My only question would be Avery over Jackson?

1st. Thanks!

2nd. Yea, give me Avery for 2 reasons.
a) Better teammate
b) He isn't an Eagle

only thing I agree with from the original post is us passing on Kenny Philips.

This is quite possibly the worst article I've read on here in 2009.

how I would done this....

Cowboys Re-Draft.

The 2008 Cowboys draft was a good one is appears but if given the benefit of a re-Draft here's how I'd draft at those spots.

1 (22) Chris Johnson RB --- CJ showed he is eveyr bit as fast on a Pro field as he was in college. The same type lightning back player Felix is and was healthier... this year.

1 (25) Donnie Avery WR --- This means no need to trade for RW11 and also adds more speed to the offense.

2 (61) Martellus Bennett TE --- Keep this pick because this offense is built with a great TE in mind and Bennett gives you protection there. He also allows 2 TE sets to finally become a reality. A better pure athlete than even Witten.

4 (122)Tashard Choice RB --- Why redo this? This guy is only the 3rd back here but 3rd backs are no longer some inactive special teamer. He can get 7 or 8 touches per week and obviously can handle more.

5 (143) Orlando Scandrick CB --- Anyone wanna re-pick here? Rookie 5th round starter quality player at CB?

6 (167) Chris Horton SS --- This is about as self-evident as it gets. Solid SS to start all year for us and we make the playoffs. Getting this guy this late is insane.

Now i like this draft. but the one we had was very succesful.

Alot of time in the year, I'm sure I'll be able to find some others to challenge it. ;)

I would take a draft class as promising as this one any year, and every year from here on out.

Our draft was awesome. The only thing I would have done different was taking Kenny Phillips over Jenkins, but we made out very well...

I started reading about Felix and stopped.

O.k.

Where to begin... The comments about Felix are just idiotic. The Titans best scout, who is considered the best scout in the NFL, said that Felix Jones was the second best RB in the draft. He said he could carry the load. The Titans were going to take him for sure. That is a fact.

Mike Jenkins had a top 15 grade for the Cowboys. The Chargers would have taken him if the Cowboys didn't jump them. Pacrat is gone. Henry is probably gone. How many chances do you get at a top 15 CB after pick 22?

Not very many. That is why you move up. Taking the top cornerback is the right and safe call. It's not even a choice to be made.

Orlando Scandrick in round 5 is a steal.
