Legendary sportscaster Pat Summerall is in the hospital.

News 8 has confirmed that was Summerall was hospitalized this week. His condition, we're told, is not life-threatening.

The 78-year old football play-by play broadcaster had a liver transplant in 2004.

This health condition is apparently not related to that transplant.

Family has been reluctant to talk about the reasons for Summerall's hospitalization.

Full story.

I loved Summerall and Brookshier. They were the original Madden and Michaels.

If they were covering the game, it was the biggest game of the week.

Get well Pat.

Get well soon, Pat. Hope it's nothing serious.

I converted a VHS tape to DVD today of the 1978 playoff game against Atlanta that he and Brookshier did.

I wish him the best. He and madden were my all time favorite team toi cover a game. Hearing him brings me back to when we were winning SB's or were in the hunt, season after season after season.

An all-time great.....plus a big Pokes fan which scores him some additional points.

Good Luck to Pat I heard his voice on the NFLN the other day and just stopped in my tracks and thought god it would be great to have him and Madden back together again for one game. The best of all time in my book.

Broadcaster Summerall recovering from surgery

Posted: June 20, 2008
DALLAS (AP) -- Sports broadcaster Pat Summerall was recovering Friday from emergency surgery to stop internal bleeding, his wife said.

Cheri Summerall said her 78-year-old husband was resting comfortably Friday in a Dallas-area hospital. Doctors told her that a new medicine he had recently started taking caused a reaction that induced the bleeding.

The surgery was Thursday.

"He has really turned the corner," Cheri Summerall said in a story Friday on The Dallas Morning News' Web site. "The doctors are thrilled with Pat's progress. We are expecting a full recovery."

Summerall, a former NFL kicker and lineman, underwent a liver transplant four years ago and hip replacement surgery in January.

Was anyone at the game when Emmitt broke the Rushing record and Sumerall fell on his face walking up on that Star Podium?

I felt so bad for the guy.

How does a 74 year old dude get a liver? Being famous has its rewards, I guess.
