Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips says he is impressed with what he saw in the first day of the rookie mini-camp from quarterback Stephen McGee.
"Out of all of the throws... he really only had one bad throw," Philips said. "I was really pleased with his accuracy."
Phillips said he liked McGee's poise.
He was a fourth-round pick out of Texas A&M.

So far, so good for the Dallas Cowboys, at least that's what head coach Wade Phillips says.
"Thought it was a very good first day," Phillips said. "I think we have some free agents that are going to surprise us."
In just a couple hours of practice you can't tell too much about the players, especially when they are in shorts, but there are some things that translate.
"Pleased certainly with the attitude that theses guys have," Phillips said.
He's says the 28 players in camp -- a combination of draft picks, rookie free agents and returning practice squad players -- are not in football shape yet, but were in decent shape.
"It's a good camp for us and a good camp for players," Phillips said.
While the coach said you can't tell everything from a session like this, he said you can tell how defensive backs and linebackers cover receivers.
"I was pleased with our overall coverage ability," he said. "You can see ability."
Phillips summed up the first day of rookie mini-camp pretty accurately: "It's only one day, we've got a long ways to go."

Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips like one new addition to his team: Speical teams coach Joe DeCamillis.
"I think he's the best. I think he's the best in the league," Phillips said. "He's a great coach."
That's pretty high praise and from what I've seen it's well earned.
Phillips said improving special teams is a priority for this team, and one they used as an approach in the draft.
"What we did is pick football players who could help us on special teams," Phillips said.
He says special teams is just as important as the two other phases of the game.
"We're gonna try to be really good on offense, defense and special teams."
To emphasis that, he listed the three units in different orders several times.
"Special team is not going to be the and anymore.," he said.
