WFAA Dale Hansen: I love me some Jerry Jones

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones was with me on Sports Special last night .... and he reminds me again why I do like this guy so much.

I know most of you don't think I do because I'm always ripping on him for something ... but the man always keeps coming back for more.

He's like one of those pop up boxing dolls we had when we were kids ... the ones with the rounded bottom ... you hit the clown in the face and he pops right back up.

That's Jones ... and I respect the hell out of that.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban doesn't talk to me anymore ... says I trap him with my questions ... oh no ... what will I ever do ... other than wear that as a badge of honor of course ....... Mark Cuban is no Jerry Jones.

Now he is a lousy general manager ... I've said several times, that it bothers the heck out of me that the Cowboys general manager couldn't get another job in the NFL and he can't ... 4 of the last 5 head coaches this general manager has hired couldn't get a head coaching job either .... and it just shouldn't be that way.

But how can you not like a guy who is always as upbeat and positive and excited about his team as Jones is. He's been wrong the last 12 years ... and I still don't give him too much credit for the 3 super bowls ... some ... but not much.

But when I add it all up ... compare all the options ... I do love me some Jerry Jones ... i really do

And if they don't win this year ... I'll beat him up like crazy and demand he fire the general manager again ... and he'll ignore me ... just like he has for the last 21 years.

But he'll answer the questions .... well kind of answer the questions anyway ... and that's more than you can say about some owners in this town ... and I really do think that says a great deal about Jerry Jones

Silly Dale. You don't give him any credit for the SBs, yet you give him the total credit for the last 12 years. You lost whatever shred of journalistic integrity there, which wasn't much.

Only 8 teams had it right in the last 12 years Dale...everyone else failed to win the championships.... Jerry isnt alone....

Jerry was just as much a influence in winning those SB's and has built another contender. I understand that the last decade has been harsh but I love me some Jerry also.

The man is always trying to win....and as a fan...thats all i can ask for.

Dale Hansen is playing the "Jimmy Built it and Jerry destroyed it" angle that a large portion of his public audience still laps up.

Hansen knows the truth, but he knows a lot of people don't.

Hmm... Not exactly true. It's pretty well known Wade would have been San Diego's head coach if he hadn't taken the Dallas job before Shottenheimer left.

Not only that, his point contradicts his own opinion that Jones should get little credit for the 3 SBs in the 90's. If part of being a good GM is hiring good coaches, then he gets oodles of credit for hiring Jimmie Johnson when everyone else thought he was crazy for bringing in a college coach.
