Terrell Owens is holding his annual football camp at Duncanville High School, and a couple of his teammates were out there today -- Marion Barber and Sam Hurd. Hurd was great, working with kids to get off the line of scrimmage as they begin a pass route; he's a charming and easy-going guy. Barber is different; it's almost painful how shy he is. For a man who runs as violently and aggressively as he does on the football field, he is the opposite in front of the media or a large group of people.

Today, each player addressed all the campers right before they broke for lunch. There were about 280 kids there, and Hurd had no problem saying a few words about helping the campers get better. Owens said the most -- and obviously he was completely comfortable. When it was Barber's turn, he mumbled something about hoping the kids would be able to take something away from the camp both on the field and off the field. Not all the kids could hear him, so he repeated it again. He talked for a total of about 24 seconds, including when he repeated himself.

His shyness is actually somewhat endearing. Watching him interact with Owens and Hurd, it's obvious he's well-liked and fun-loving. But he simply doesn't like to talk to groups of people; he's not comfortable and tries to avoid it. It's something a lot of us in the media had to get used to his first couple years with the Cowboys -- he wasn't blowing us off when he declined interview requests, he just was sincerely uncomfortable with it. I wish he weren't, because as one of the Cowboys' top players, fans would probably like to hear from him more. But that's just who he is.

One of the best things about barber is there is no doubt why he is playing in the NFL, it aint the fame he just loves to play football.

Toss up between he and Ware as my favorite.

I'm the same way. I'm good at two maybe three people conversations but when I get around a group I'm usually virtually silent.

I am the same way, my house is the only place I deal with a ton of strangers well. Just don't like not knowing people. It's not rude, even if that is how they take it, I just am not comfortable in those situations.

If he keeps laying like he has been he is going to be one of the faces of the team and is going to have to speak to people.

As long as he doesn't go Ricky Williams on us and start doing interviews with his helmet on and making trips to India, I'm cool....

When I read this, I thought, "People don't dance no more. All they do is this."

I can relate, i used to be super super shy. Booze helped me get rid of most of it, but even still today, when alot of eyes are looking at me at once my body reacts as if i am still shy. Eyes water, face turns red. Hopefully Barber can force himself to do more stuff like that and overcome it. I mean i like to hear Crayton, Owens and Romo talk but id really like to know what Barber thinks.
