missed who the other guy (frazier?) named. said they are high on jason. "exceedingly impressive"

Looking like spags from NYG not getting a HC job. (60:40 against)

Rex Ryan heavy favorite to Jets but not locked up. Grimm second.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

That opens the door to fire Wade

update.... Per Mike:
If Jason Goes... Wade heavy pay increase to move to DC, Mike S to HC, TO Gone.

Mike seems to think Shanahan doesn't want ot wait until 2010 & cowboys would need to make move in 2010 either way.

BRING IT ON.

update 1:55pm
Rams down to 3 choices. leslie frazier or garret... spags distant third

our odds are improving

Wade's not going anywhere. Garrett's a putz. Hire a real offensive coordinator and watch this team take off.

So you still have faith that with Wade as the head coach this team can win a Super Bowl?

If somehow this miraculously happens and we do get a new HC and OC, I would like to see T.O stay. I'm curious as to how he would implement getting everyone involved.

Francesa is good freinds with Billy Devaney so before people start saying he doesn't have any knowledge on this calm down.

I don't know if he will or will not lead this team to the SB but like any coach I would give him the oppertunity. If you hire a man you give him the chance I would expect that for any coach that is hired.

I had heard this also and was going to post it. I think that this is a good recipe considering how Garrett struggled again at the end of this year. They need a no nonsense coach for this team that will get the most out of the offense. Who's better than Shanahan? Plus it gets the cancer T.O. out of here so the rest of the offense can play in peace.

I think Mike was offering his opinion rather than giving insider information. He tends to do this a lot. I agree with the premise, I just don't think there is a lot of weight(no pun intended) with what Mike has to say. I hope I'm wrong.

It definitely was all opinion but it really is the perfect scenario. We can dream can't we?

wfan is a good read for mainstream (not fanboys).

what is interesting is mike is talking the first 40 minutes about all different mike shanahan scenerios with the cowboys, as if he's been hired. LOL. says the obvious he's a perfect fit... most teams need young coaches the boys are ready to go need a leader to right the ship.

The Rams ended our 2008 season (yes they did) but they can SAVE our 2009--- seasons by hiring Jason.

This is the same GM in STL that tried to hire him in Atlanta last year, so it's not a big surprise he's high on Garrett. The issue is St. Louis hasn't interviewed the big name candidates because they want to hire someone on the cheap. Is Garrett so eager to get out of Dallas and away from TO that he's willing to step away from a $3 million a year salary to take a 50+% paycut?

Don't be so sure. If memory serves, Shanahan was the only other interested party for TO's services after his release from the Eagles.

I'm on record as wanting Owens for 2009. I do agree that changes need to be made and that Owens himself must make conssesions/tow the party line.

Shanahan's hire could be the type of change that makes the Owens thing work.

Either way, I would want Shanahan to make the decision on Owens!

If he wants to dump TO, I'd have no problem with it.

according to Steve Young who talks to Shanahan frequently, that he wants to coach in 2009 but only for a contender not a team in rebuilding stage. Thinks Dallas would be good fit. will instill some discipline. just can't do GM duties. Just FYI for everybody.

So if Garrett goes, then what happens to TO?Most people that want to get rid of TO, think the organization has to make a choice, between him and Garrett... And if they think Shanahan will come in, because Garrett is the key to keeping Wade, Shanahan wanted TO in the first place....

If Garrett chooses to leave and Shanahan were brought in it could in fact buy TO another year. TO would get another fresh start under a HC like Shanahan who would likely create his own locker room chemistry as opposed to Wade with a new OC which might send a message of TO ruling the roost so to speak.

Then again, that would be up to Shanahan hopefully. Just a thought, highly speculative, and way premature.

But it does make me wonder a bit if this isn't what Jerry is somewhat secretly hoping for or at least would be a nice consolation prize should Jerry's alleged next head coach decide he's tired of waiting.
