WFT Commanders

Did you take a poll or something?
I seen a poll that came out before the name change.It was all native Americans that were ask the question. It was something like 80% opposed it.
If this was some major controversy it would've been raised WAY long before now.

Actually, the vast majority don't. But we don't listen to the majority anymore.

In 2020, researchers from the University of Michigan and UC Berkeley published a journal article on the results of an empirical study analyzing data from 1,021 Native Americans, twice the size of previous samples. It included Native Americans from all 50 states representing 148 tribes (previous polls didn’t include states with large Native American Populations, such as Alaska, surprise surprise). The researchers found that 49% of self-identified Native Americans found the Washington Commanders name offensive, 38% found it not offensive, and 1% were indifferent.

@Hardline as well

This contradicts your claim. You probably saw the first one from the Washington Post of all sources and didn’t see the follow up.

When I see WFT,I think.

What a stupid name to call the Washington Commanders.
Sadly some miserable people will insult you and the entire history of the team (players, coaches, and owners) because they have the almighty opinion. You're wrong, they're right. Just pray they grow as a human should.

And people more Native American than you think it's offensive.

Naming a sports team after a races perceived skin color was never a good idea.
And indians who basically called themselves this to distinguish their tribe from others was never a good idea for them either? Let's not make something offensive just because someone is out there looking hard enough.

No player or coach or mass group of people where it originated from considered it an issue. But some miserable person in this world (who probably has the luxury of living a great life with no setbacks) was looking to be offended on behalf of others and made it an issue.

Lol, yeah I wonder what research results from Berkeley are going to be.

I'm sure they chose their native Americans very carefully to get their predetermined conclusion. That's what they do.
