So we get stuffed running the same play 4 times and three plays later Newman gets a pick. HUGE!!! LARGE!! CLUTCH!!!

What happens? Nothing!!

The game before that Jenkins gets a pick. What happens? Nothing!!

And just about every other time we get a turn over, FAIL!!

We practically never capitalize on turn overs but they do get them.

If we aren't stalling out with penalties, we are stalling out with ONE DIMENSIONAL PLAY CALLING...

PASS PASS PASS FAIL...

OR

RUN RUN RUN FAIL....

So what has worked for us in the past?

Pass Pass Draw

or

Run Run Play Action

Mix it up, bring back the element of surprise. Give your boys a fighting chance.

Stupid is what stupid does..

This Defense holds the Chargers to 20 points but Garrett held the Cowboys offense to under 21.....

We are like dead last in the league forcing turnovers, that is a problem regardless of if the offense can do anything with it.

Turnovers is the most important stat in football, you win the turnover ratio and you win 75% of the time.

Newman only got the pick because he was out of position on a bad throw by Rivers. His man had him beat by yards. Or at least that is what someone on here said yesterday. :laugh2:

Newman got the pick because he jumped like a missile into the air to pick a ball thrown way over his head.

The defense is waaaay deficient in the turnover department. Taking the ball away means less opportunities for the opposing offense whether your own offense can capitalize or not. The lack of forced (or lucky) turnovers by this defense is why everyone is calling this a good, but not a great team.

I guess you missed the memo around here, Newman sucks, no way he jumped for a ball or even got an INT.

Nope that was definitely Jesse Holley in Newman's jersey. 4th and Long FTW.

No they where playing a cover 2 and newman was the underneath in the zone and if you watch Allen Ball was over the top and came into the picture as newman snagged that ball

Man, in the game chat on that drive where we were running the ball, I said "now for play action", and boy you'd have thought I just solicited for nude pictures of Abe Vigoda. Know what I heard? "You run it until they stop it". Well, they stopped it alright, on the one.

You can't run/pass to set up the pass/run if you don't, you know, actually stop running/passing and try to pass/run.

This D is so bad at tackling that they cant go for the strip. Which sucks b/c sooo many players hold the ball poorly

We can't win our one on one matchups with 4 tries inside the 3 yard line, but we would have magically if we'd called a pass play? Sure.

I think the reason we don't get a lot of turnovers, is because teams "3 step drop" us to death.

Plus, coverage wise, the middle of the field is a big weakness of ours.

Newman really wasn't out of position. To me it looked like he knew there was help over top, so he let the receiver past him. It was more of a bad read or miscommunication on Rivers part.

And when the offense makes a big play and scores a TD? Sometimes that happened this season. Or, if the offense made a play that brings the momemtum back to Dallas and the lead in a tight game. What has happened?

The Defense has let the other team right back in the game giving up a TD.

Face it, this team on both sides of the ball need to learn how to close out a game. And need better players, it goes both ways.

IMO, the reason we don't capitalize on turn overs is simple...

The team doesn't have the killer instinct to ice a game.

Nothing is more demoralizing to a team that turning the ball over and seeing the resulting points for the opposition. Heck, no one knows this better than a Cowboy's fan.

When the game can be put away..when there are a few plays that could kill the other team...this team simply doesn't make those plays.

And ya know, it was happening before Wade Phillips.

Seattle in the playoff game under Parcells. NO WAY this team should have lost that game.

And even when the game looked like it was lost, after the Romo botched snap, they had the Hawks on their own 1 yard line. The entire world knew they were going to run. If the defense held, there was still time for the offense to move the team back into scoring position.

So what happened? On the first play Alexander broke something like a 40 yard run.

Done.

It's been the same story for years.

How many years have we seen the Cowboys score toward the end of a game...and we look at the time remaining and think "Uh oh...there's still 1:30 left in the game" and sure enough...

And it is why we were a great team in 2007, which drastically helped out our offense. We forced 29 turnovers. So far this year we're at 16.
