That win versus Atlanta couldn't have felt any better. To get a solid win versus a quality opponent when the world is anxiously awaiting your collapse just feels great.
And I love how the team has responded throughout the week. No declarations of greatness. No real rubbing it in the face of overly harsh critics. IMO, it shows some real maturity on the part of this club.
To get the win itself, also shows that the fire this team has gone through, late last season, and early this year, is not bringing about a meltdown. Rather, its bringing about refinement.
The leaders of this team are saying and doing the right things.
Crayton takes his medicine, delivers two key plays in the next weeks win, and resists a major public grousing.
Roy, gets more criticism despite the win but responds primarily by calling it the worst game of his career - not blaming other people or lack of targets etc. Oh yeah, he also claims that wins are more important than how many balls he catches.
This team has avoided sinking down to the level of its critics. Its largely taken the high road and got rewarded big time last week.
It is tremendously fun and satisfying. I have relived last weeks game every single day this week.
It has also shut some critics up for now, the ones who love to harp and harp and harp about all things negative. I know we weren't and aren't perfect. But there is a lot of potential in this team and I for one am thrilled to see them start to deliver on it.
Lastly, I must say it was funny to watch how upset Ed Werder got when his suggestion that Roy was standing in the way of Austin's development blew up in his face.
The Cowboy players modeled humility. Werder could have taken a lesson from them and done the same. He chose a different route.
Its been a great week.
ps - I didn't forget Ware's signing. But honestly, it pales in comparison to how sweet the rest of the weeks events were.
