What a fine, young nucleus!

I was just thinking of how good our draft appears right now. I'm excited about our future! Even if Parcells never makes another winner here in Dallas, he's done a lot to infuse us with more talent.

Look at the good, young nucleus of talent we have in place:
On the DL:
Spears
Canty
Ratliff

At LB:
Ware
Burnett
James (assuming he gets his act together)

In the Secondary:
Newman
Henry
Roy Williams
Justin Beriault (if anything, he should be a solid ST)

That's 10 players on defense that should be strong contributors for a long time. All players are 30 or younger. Granted, we still could use youth at NT, and we need another rush LB and FS.

Offense isn't as set, but we still have a nice, solid nucleus of young players to build on:

At RB:
Julius Jones
Marion Barber
Anthony Thomas
Tyson Thompson (yes, I know I may be jumping the gun on this guy)

At TE:
Witten

On the OL:
Al Johnson
Stephen Peterman
Jacob Rogers

I think we really need to concentrate on this side of the ball. QB (assuming the worst with Henson and Romo) and WR (assuming Crayton and Morgan fail) need immediate help. We cannot be a dominating, Super Bowl contender until these positions are shored up.

Anyway, there's a ton to be excited for on the defense. I'm excited about watching them mature as a group. I think we can have a dominating group there for a long time.

I really don't see a young nucleus like this anywhere else in our division.

I may be jumping the gun as well....but I think Petitti makes the team.

Thanks to Tucker showing his arse early, I couldnt agree more

He'll make the 53 but he wont see the active roster till later this year

He's basically the 4th RT behind Rogers, Vollers, and Allen and 3rd LT behind Adams and Vollers

Other than a few areas (that's to be expected) I am very excited to watch this team this year ...

In recent years, it seems like it's been the same team as the last year with a few changes ...

This team has a whole new look and I haven't been this excited in a long time.

Damned straight man. It's been a long time since we've been able to feel really good about the direction our team is taking. God bless JJ for finally seeing the error of his ways & bringing a real coach in here.

This draft class is looking absolutely awesome. Can't wait to see them in games. We do indeed have a solid core to build upon. One more good draft & f/a period and we are going to once again be at the top and stay there for many years. I'm smelling Lombardi's.

We're on our way back up. Strap yourselve's in folks, it's going to be one helluva ride.

I can't Tucker making the team again. His act has grown thin.

I think Adams, Rogers, Vollers and Petitti are all ahead of him right now. Throw in Allen, Rivera and Peterman at guard, Johnson and/or Gurode at center, a versatile guy like Noll or Walter as an outside possibility, and I can't see Tucker replacing any of those players on the line.

I agree here. I read the other day that Vollers was ahead of Tucker ...

I should have been more specific Dale--I was talking abot Petitti making the team, not Tucker

How have Noll and Walter looked?--these are the 2 bubble guys IMHO

Tucker is as good as gone

Unless I'm mistaken, which is always a possibility, Tucker has been working third-team at right tackle behind Rogers and Vollers. For a brief while, I think Vollers was working only the left side when Petitti was out. And on the left now, it's Flozell, Vollers and Petitti.

I just think Tucker's act has worn thin. I'd be highly surprised to see him here next season.

Oh ok, my misunderstanding. I think one of the two between Walter and Noll will stick. Both are pretty versatile guys who seem reliable in limited roles.

Walter is very versatile - when the music stops he's on a chair.

I'd prefer talent over versatility. Walter hasn't flashed any that I have seen.

I want to see NO sign him.
