I was just thinking of how good our draft appears right now. I'm excited about our future! Even if Parcells never makes another winner here in Dallas, he's done a lot to infuse us with more talent.
Look at the good, young nucleus of talent we have in place:
On the DL:
Spears
Canty
Ratliff
At LB:
Ware
Burnett
James (assuming he gets his act together)
In the Secondary:
Newman
Henry
Roy Williams
Justin Beriault (if anything, he should be a solid ST)
That's 10 players on defense that should be strong contributors for a long time. All players are 30 or younger. Granted, we still could use youth at NT, and we need another rush LB and FS.
Offense isn't as set, but we still have a nice, solid nucleus of young players to build on:
At RB:
Julius Jones
Marion Barber
Anthony Thomas
Tyson Thompson (yes, I know I may be jumping the gun on this guy)
At TE:
Witten
On the OL:
Al Johnson
Stephen Peterman
Jacob Rogers
I think we really need to concentrate on this side of the ball. QB (assuming the worst with Henson and Romo) and WR (assuming Crayton and Morgan fail) need immediate help. We cannot be a dominating, Super Bowl contender until these positions are shored up.
Anyway, there's a ton to be excited for on the defense. I'm excited about watching them mature as a group. I think we can have a dominating group there for a long time.
I really don't see a young nucleus like this anywhere else in our division.
