He learned it from surviving in South Texas. It takes a lot of intestinal fortitude to spend any meaningful part of your life in Rockport.

We grew up learning about the importance of supporting a team in sport. When I was in High School, I was in the 4A disctrict that included the large schools in Corpus Christi, Alice, Kingsville, and Victoria. We had State playoff teams in football, baseball, and basketball...highest level then in state. Miller, and Alice in football. King were state Champions in baseball. Kingsville went to state in basketball. That was just after the Cowboys were created by Murchison.

From Corpus Christi, Daryl Haas and Charlie Richardson and myself from Kingsville, received Congressional Appointments to the Air Force Academy and played football for them there.

Now, let's talk about being shot at twice back during those times and dealing with criminals now in that same area...

Rockport was the home of a group of shrimp fishers and where Dat Nguyen was from...and the same area were Eugene Upshaw, Eldridge Small, Dwight Harrison, Levi Johnson, Ernest Price, David Hill...then John Randle and Daryl Green.

Yea, they knew some crap and supported teams.
