i was amazed with Chris Jones punting ability. It seemed to me that the Giants were starting around their ten yard line when their offense started drives in Sunday nights game. It's difficult to drive ninety yards without something derailing your drive. I hope he continues his excellent punting. Go Cowboys

I read somewhere that the average starting position for the Giants was the 16

Our offense moved the ball so well Jones never really had to boom a punt, when our drives would stall outside FG range Jones was just needing to arc it up and have it land at or a little inside the 10 yard line, and since they had enough hang time Harris was having to fair catch them at the 8-10 otherwise there was a good chance we'd down it inside the 5.

Very good punting for sure. He doesn't have Mcbriar's leg, but he's definitely good at dropping them in and pinning them.

Yes, Norm Hitzges mentioned this. Just shy of the 16 yard line.
He said if you look at Jones' punting stats alone, you would say this guy sucks, average of like 34.8 yards per punt. but from where he punted, he pinned them inside the 10 like 3 times or 4.
The NY best starting position was from there 25, from the KO's.

Jones is a very solid player. At 28, he still has many years left. He may not boom it a mile, but he is a plenty good enough to win a super bowl with.

And to think a few years ago most on here, or seemed like it wanted him gone. Called him a JAG, said he sucked.
You know, the usual, the same crap we are seeing now about Taco and others.

The quality of punters in the NFL right now is at an all-time high. Lots of good ones out there

Jones is also a great holder for Bailey.

Remermber how McBriar sucked as a holder and Romo had to do it?

Romo was a lousy holder as well.

I am a fan of Chris Jones, but Johnny Hekker is a weapon at punter (and placeholder) and I never say that about a punter.

Hekker's leg strength is incredible and his ability to get the ball downed inside the 10-yard line second to none. He can also curve his punts with this silly rotation that causes a lot of muffed punts. He's also a former high school QB (and a good one) who is a threat to throw and run.

He's phenomenal.

Romo was perfect as a holder until that one slippery ball in Seattle. He was not bad at it, just bad circumstances

He was a bad placeholder.

Look at our placekicker's FG make % with him as the holder, then with Brad Johnson as the holder and then with Romo back as the holder and finally with Chris Jones as a holder. Then look at the kickers that struggled with Romo as a holder but then went on to other teams and had great success like Nick Folk, Shawn Suisham, Billy Cundiff, etc.

I can't remember the kicker...it may have been Eddy Murray...when asked about the FG kicking woes of the Cowboys he said 'well, look at the placeholder' and at the time it was Romo.

There's more to placeholding than just handling the ball and spinning the laces out.

Jones was punting from plus territory a lot, but he was nailing it high and not into the endzone, forcing Harris to catch it inside the 10. That makes the offense get an extra first down just to get it back to the 20. Those are the hidden yards Tuna always talked about.
