What about Cooper Beebe at guard?

He played guard in college, yes he played several positions and he's currently learning the center position. With that said, could he be the replacement to one Zack Martin one day? We have Hoffman who most likely wins the center position at this point.

So for instance, Zack were to go down, is Cooper up, or is it someone else like Bass maybe? It would be a great way to get him on the field (not wishing injury on Martin or anyone) to develop. Is this a possible option with Cooper to keep him at center or maybe have him do a little of both, since they LOVE position flex around here (dumbest phrase ever). Please give your thoughts

Martin won't be around for much longer. If Hoffman really is the answer at center this would be the move.

IF somehow Hoffman shows he is better than Biadasz was then maybe CB goes to guard. But hoffman is really going to have to shine for that to happen

One of the issues around Brock Hoffman is will the Cowboys pay to extend him if he plays to a higher level than Tyler Biadasz? History seems to indicate that the Cowboys do not value interior OL unless they are elite players as they have let Biadasz, McGovern, and Williams walk in the last three seasons. Granted he is a restricted free agent, but Hoffman is a FA this coming offseason. If he does break out would the Cowboys pay to retain him or just let Beebe take over for 2025? Seems like decent odds the Cowboys may put a 2nd round tender on a guy like that in hopes someone bites.

This question has a ton of layers to it that Brock Hoffman and Cooper Beebe really have no control over.

Beebe is either a long term starting center or guard. Where ever the need. No reason to specify and certain position.
No just saying he needs to work at both, everyone on here has him penciled in as our center already when Hoffman might actually be the guy

Right now the focus is developing Beebe into a starting center. That development, whether it’s sometime during this season or next isn’t viewed as important, so as long as he develops.
Bass will be the primary backup at guard. If something happens that forces Beebe to have to play long term at guard, then it’s probably going to be viewed as a developmental setback!
My guess, the coaches are thrilled that Hoffman is appearing serviceable at this point and that they don’t have to rush Beebe!
You draft for 4 years, not instant gratification!

Once again tell that to the many that have had Cooper being a starter since his name was called in April!

Or TJ Bass who showed flashes last year. He is probably in the mix as well.

CB is All American / All Conf Guard.

He can play C1.

He will be the starter soon.

Nothing against Hoffman, but they are not the same player.

Why would you put a Cornerback at OG?

After 18,000 threads of giving my thoughts, I am all thought out. Maybe after a few cups of coffee, my thought process will rejuvenate.

J/K

Just glad both are on the team, seems like they hit on some OL going forward.

Not saying it's going to happen, but I suspect if camp/preseason continues as it is, we might see Beebe set as the no. 1 backup at both center and guard, because it's unrealistic to expect all 3 interior linemen to go all year with no missed time. Even Martin - he missed only 2 games in his first 6 years, but 6 in 2018 and 2 last year.
I know many have Beebe as their pet cat, but since he never played center in college games, he has to learn the center position. Hoffman as evidently impressed during camp he has the advantage now.

Personally, I would rather see Beebe not start unless Hoffman just can't handle it during games, but it's hard to see a high draft pick with so much potential.

We'll see what the final shake out at center is in about a month...
