I think it would be a great move and give us a set of tackles for the next 7 years! If Tyron makes a solid leap this year they could be the best tandem tackle in the league. He is coming off an injury and was not franchised. But I think it would be a solid move. You can move Livings who I actually thought played pretty good until the injury and if Costa comes back strong and becomes the guy from the ravens game I think we would only need to upgrade one spot and Breny can back up both guard spots along with cook. I know he might cost a decent amount but it would be worth the look especially once Romo does his contract. I would actually feel better about our line if this was the case.

Thoughts?

He's going to get too much money...and he hasn't been the same player he was after getting injured.

If he can be had at a reasonable contract, and is willing to play RT, I think it's something I would look into. But I don't think that will happen.

he's not the same player he was and he wants lt money. not gonna happen. maybe he or one of the other many ot's on the market can be signed short term so they can hit the market again next year but he is not worth a long term deal anymore

do you want to fix the guard spots? or the tackle? how about center? what about saftey? how about that DL? or a DE? there is only so much assets to go around. so my question to you is how much money does long want? he has a history of injuries that past few years and do we want to pour a lot of money to the RT spot. not saying its not important, because it is. there is a cap, there is so much room within the cap and there is only so much resources.

I'd do it if we got him for cheap, maybe a couple mil a year. But if he truly wants 10+ mil a year, it ain't gonna happen. Make no mistake, some dumb team will overpay for him, but it's not us

So did you not read what I said? I said to move livings to the right side and hopefully that Costa will be the Costa we saw in the Ravens game, and go out and draft another guard. As for the safety I have been saying we need to draft a safety with the 1st or 2nd pick. I didn't start the thread based on the cost because I haven't paid attention to what he is looking for my point is it would help to get this line together so that the tackles aren't worried about helping the guard at all times. I understand there is only so many resources and I haven't been posting lets sign this guy or that guy etc... I do think if you can get a guy like this for 6-7 a year it would be a solid move period. Then you draft a guard and Costa will stay at Center. What did that do? it created depth because you have berny and Killer and Cook and Parnell backing up the starters I don't think it was a crazy question and I did not dismiss the other holes.

do a little research next time.

Long has been living off of his rep for the last 2 years.

Kyle Long has also played defensive lineman (like father and brother). He is big and very athletic -- 6'6' 311 pounds and very quick. He is a natural athlete and some have commented that he has more natural ability than his brother. Howie says he is an offensive tackle (naturally).

It appears he has what it takes to play and he plays with attitude, but I am not sure about the Cowboys line coaches getting the most out of him. He needs to be in a strict environment with mentors to help him mature and become a professional.

I would draft him, but we will see what the Cowboys do.

Misread...I had the upcoming draft on my mind and possible lineman.

I agree with thread on his brother Jake -- wants too much money. I think Dallas needs to stick to the draft and leave FA alone. They suck at FA and do not have the cap space anyway.

Rebuild through the draft.

It's funny how people get so tied into "draft mode" when free agency happens first and goes a long way to shaping the draft.

Eric Winston got released by the Chiefs and in my mind is a much better fit in Dallas anyway. He could easily slide into the slot we create by letting Free go.

Sportswriter Jason Cole was on local radio and says the current thought is Long will end up back in Miami, at the Dolphins number, not at his number.
