What about promoting Sparano to Offensive Coordinator?

What about promoting Sporano to OC? Now, before you thrash me for bringing this up, please hear me out.

Based on how the OL performed you can rationally argue that Sporano is not deserving of a promotion. But perhaps coaching a highly-technical unit like OL did not fit Sporano's skills? Perhaps he is well suited to coordinate the offense, which is more philisophical and less technical in nature? Perhaps Spurano is best suited for thal role?

After all, Sporano is a solid TE's coach who has a great understanding of the passing game and how guys like Witten can fit into that. He also did a good job getting the TE's involved in the blocking schemes along the OL, indication he has a good concept of how the receiver-type posirtions can complemet the running game. So why not consider him for the offensive coordinator job?

What do you think?

Sparano had the title of running game coordinator..........did you see our running game?

How about if we let him go to NO with Payton?

I bet Sporano would do a fine job as OC if the talent on offense was upgraded. More times than not I'd take better talent than a better coach.

here is the thing about most of the names out there. bill will only turn the play calling over to someone he really trusts, and who will run an offense along his line of thinking. this was the frst year he let payton call the plays. no way he is gonna let a te coach call the plays, or haley either. someone will get the title but the play calling will be bill and those who thought our offense was conservative this year, well you are about to see a more conservative game plan

No way - If anything I hope he goes. Our OL was terrible, just plain awful and you can't blame everything on injuries. We're not the only team that had injuries or young players out there. Good coaches get the best out of what they have - and Sporano hasn't done anything to deserve a promotion IMO.

Guy butchers his job and gets promoted to OC?

What has this guy ever done to be an OC and call plays in the NFL?

BP - get the interview process moving ASAP!

I thought that you were tight with the New England Mafia and all. Surely you have researched this one, haven't you? I'm amazed that you don't know the background info on one of your own.

Again, Flo was hurt. Riveria played hurt. AJ got hurt and still played. Tucker is a backup for a reason. We started a Rookie. So... Sparano is supposed to do what with what?

It's easy to lay blame, isn't it?

Sparano. Promotion. The words shouldnt appear in the same sentence.

I don't think it's going to make any difference who is play calling...It's like going to dinner at a hamburger place...you got choices, sure, rare, medium and well done.

Play calling will always be done within a very tight framework established by Parcells.

I wouldn't go for it, but who knows what's up Parcells sleeves.

Offensively, it's safe to say the worst pieces were thee offnesive line and the running game (which work in hand). Since both of those pieces fell under Sparano, no way would I promote him. I would think about demoting him to just one role rather than both offensive line and running game coordinator roles.
