What about Rob Chudzinski?

Since all we're getting out of Valley Ranch is a lot of wait-and-see speculation, let's go out on a limb and assume the supposed rift between Callahan and Garrett is real. It makes sense -- these two coaches have starkly different offensive philosophies and there's really no reason why they should be working together.

The first guy everyone assumes would take over is Norv, and that's fine. He's a decent offensive coach with a proven track record and he runs more or less the same system as Garrett, but what about Chudzinski? He's a Norv disciple himself and probably a hotter commodity right now than Norv is. I'm a believer in younger coaches who are more prone to be innovative rather than fall back on what has always worked for them in the past. It seems that that's just what Garrett needs -- someone who "gets" his system yet isn't trapped by its dogma?

Who knows, maybe you could still hire Norv as some sort of "Senior Offensive Assistant" role similar to what Brad Childress does with the Chiefs, or maybe even what Dan Reeves was supposed to be here. But then again, I also thought there was a chance that Leslie Frazier could come here as a DB coach (which, ironically, I think he will be in Tampa Bay if Marinelli bolts to be their DC).

I'd love it, but I just don't see Jerry giving someone a two year contract when the head coach himself is only on a one year deal. Extend Garrett and you gotta pay him--and the new guys you bring in--the money when Garrett's fired after next seasons .500 season.

Jerry knows the situation and IMO has decided to risk sacrificing next season (letting Garrett call plays again and letting him be a lame duck head coach) in order to not lose money on firing coaches.

Sadly, I think you're right. I think it's the absolute wrong way to do business, but that's probably what will happen unless the organization's relationship with Callahan has become strained.

I forgot to mention another interesting tie-in between Garrett and Chudzinski -- the influence of Ken Kovash.

That would give me some hope! I was hopeful when they hired Rob Ryan because I didn't expect Jerry to go outside his comfort zone. Obviously, it didn't work out. But whenever Jerry goes outside his comfort zone, I get a little spark of optimism

lets just all get together and drink to the hopes that something different happens. okay we all have to get over the fact JG keeps his job, lets hope that the organization brings in a true OC. I think however we do that, that has got to be the best road for this team right now.

I think the most likely scenario with Dallas sticking with Garrett is that Callahan leaves, Pollack becomes line coach and Garrett goes back to being coordinator. I don't see Callahan staying with essentially a demotion from play-caller, especially with Dallas already having Pollack in place to take over as line coach.

Another tie-in, though not with Garrett, is Chudzinski used to coach for Butch Davis. He was the TE coach at U of Miami and then again late in Davis' tenure with Cleveland.

I think Norv would be a better fit, but maybe Chudzinski would at least get more production out of TEs not named Witten. At least more than the former spread QB currently coaching the TEs.
