What about the FG kickers in camp so far?

It paned out well last year.
Because they went back with the trusted vet. Maher signed, Badgley signed and there isn’t much left until cut downs.

They tried what they are doing this year when they tried with Garibay and Hajrullahu.

I’m not saying you don’t bring in fresh legs or unknown talent. But I’d much prefer the unknown talent beat out the veteran than to say “well he went 75% to the other guys 65% so he’s good enough”

If you’re hired by a job 3 separate times you’re doing something right lol

Or you just took back the lesser evil?

If you got hired three times, then you had been let go / fired two times before.

Don't get me wrong, I was a fan of the guy last season, he did a great job apart from that one game. But it's never been like we had an ideal kicker situation in any of the last few seasons.

Didn’t kick in college.
Played soccer. Wouldn't be the first DAL kicker, let alone NFL kicker, to have played soccer first. And for what it matters, he was a pretty decent soccer player evidently.

Kicked two years in the USFL
That's a problem? Hard to fathom why it's important for him to have kicked in college, but any other previous experience he has is, from where you sit, a negative (?!?). Pardon the observation, but you're bringing a real

attitude to this topic. Maybe as a kid you just misunderstood which Winnie the Pooh character was worth aspiring to be like, dunno. ;)

is already 28
That's a problem? But you're okay with 40 year-olds?

*sigh*

It’s the same approach Dallas tends to want to take. Sign unproven / UDFA type and hope it pans out.
Every season there are new Ks and Ps who assert themselves, and very rarely is one of them someone who was drafted.

Double negative alert... it's not only not a bad approach, it tends to be the same one that most teams take when they're in the market for a new kicker or punter.

How are they neglecting it. They have 2 kickers.
Do you have any confidence in them? They could have drafted one, or signed a UDFA/FA...but instead signed a guy who couldn't beat Maher and a guy who has barely been a kicker. Seems like they dragged their feet, went dumpster diving, and I won't be surprised if we have the worst kicking situation in the NFL.

Three gut feelings….

Our week one kicker is in another teams camp at the moment.

That person won’t be the only kicker we use in 2023.

They draft a kicker next year, about a year too late.

I’m not bringing any observations to this that hasn’t been brought up numerous times.

I simply am responding to every question you send back.

Once again you’re taking everything I’m saying without the other part.

Aubrey didn’t kick in college? It’s not a problem. Not the first or the last. My stance is that he is batting somebody else who hasn’t been great.

My point has been pretty simple.

You bring in an Aubrey and let him compete with a guy like Michael Badgley and compete with somebody with experience.

You’re simply in playing my stance is Aubrey = bad. Vizcaino = bad. I’m not saying that.

I’m saying when these guys are competing and reports are it’s been bad .. what do you expect?

What reports? They haven't been kicking in front of anybody. They start doing that on Monday. Then they will be kicking in the difficult winds of Oxnard.

My friend, there simply is no kicker out there that doesn't have his own set of red flags... why a team should be wary of bringing him to camp. Except, that is, for kickers that everyone wants, and who thus, get to select for themselves what team's kicking opportunity (and salary) appeals most to him.

Badgley? Okay, let's look at Badgley...

It's why when you get a Dan Bailey, you ride that horse for as long as you possibly can ride him... because the vast majority give you good reason for pause for placing too much confidence in them.

The kicker position is by far the single weakest and most terrifying part of the roster right now.
Hope a veteran is added before the season starts. Just terrifying and could easily undo everything else good that was done.

If only it were that simple.

The names you're familiar with are aging kickers who've been passed over because their legs have been noticeably in decline by virtue of their kickoff range, if not their 50+ and even 40-49 FG%.

Terrifying? Lol, like they can't find a kicker if needed. Come on.

Yep you’re right, they grow on trees….
And the overwhelming majority of nfl games come down to one score, often a kick…so yeah love to trot out some randos at k and hope for the best…

They have 2 kickers now. If they need somebody else they will get one just like they did last year. Every team has 2 kickers right now. That means that 31 of them will become available.
