Chicken (food) = uncountable noun- 'Some' can always be used with uncountable nouns.

Person/People, Fan/Fans = countable nouns- 'Some' can only be used when the plural form is used.

Anyways, this is all technical talk. English is a funny language. 'Everybody' is a singular form. Try explaining that to a group of ESL students!
