What am I missing with Jernigan

Guys I have watched like 4 Jernigan games, and I really am not 'seeing' it. I can't understand what the fuss is about with this player.

I 'see' it with Donald. I see quickness, I see quick twitch, I see explosiveness. I see pass rushing, disruption and play making ability.

Jernigan cannot get off blocks. I see zero explosion to his game whatsover. Yes, I know he made some big plays in big games. But to me there was no consistency. Can someone help me with him?

I see a lot of explosion. May not have necessarily resulted in explosive plays but the kid plays with an attitude and fights with his hands violently. Combine that with above average size and athleticism for the position and I see a lot to like.

Now I think mcshay and scout inc are nuts for having him in their top 10. Not at all my 1st choice but I wouldn't hate him at 16.

I agree. He's OK, but I don't see elite quickness. I see him as a 1-tech in Marinelli's scheme.

Do you like any of the 1st or 2nd round DT's other than Donald?

I don't know, I kinda feel like you went into a lot of the DT reviews looking for a small and really quick DT when in reality those guys are far and few between. Now I understand that is probably what Rod is looking for, but you can't discount other guys for not being that. You gave pretty bad reviews of Nix, Tuitt, Quarles, and Jernigan with Hageman's being just so so. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, I just think your view might be a little slanted when you have 5 out of the top 7 or so DT's rated poorly.

Yea I'm right there with you. I see a player that has some potential but his motor leaves something to be desired. We've had too many players like him and I wouldn't take him in until the 3rd round. He's got bust written all over him.

Overreact much? The guy was a top player on a top defense. He has an endless motor, he is nasty and athletic. He has prototypical size and intangibles for what Marinelli likes in his 1-tech. Most of all, he is a hard working football player. Not a pretty, flashy prima donna. Depending on his combine numbers I would take him at 16 but would much prefer the drop back a few picks and take him around 20. If he shows up with serious numbers at the combine, he will be our pick at 16. Book it.

Watch film much? He's overhyped he lacks pass rush skill & is better suited as a 1 tech & you don't draft a 1 tech in the first round. Unless you're a team like Seattle with few holes & just want to bolster the position

I have watched plenty of film on him because I previously wasn't very high on him either. Overhyped is in the eye of the beholder and your opinion isn't worth any more than mine.

Read my post much? Because I said I would take him as a 1-tech.

Also, he has adequate to good pass rush skills for an interior DL. He has a monster bull rush and a great rip move. Also, outside of Tuitt, he is the most versatile DL in the draft. He can play both end spots. I think he would make a great SDE.

I love when people watch free film on the internet and aggressively state their opinion of it as fact. Even if that assessment greatly differs from many experts who scout those very same games for a living.
