Zero his contract makes it unlikely Jerry overpaid to keep barber paid him like a top 5 back when he never carried a full load and since he has became the main guy he has not managed to stay healthy.

I love how he plays he is just not and never was a top 5 back he is a really good back and is great in a rotation. So next year I still see him hear the year after maybe not

Here is his contact

5/20/2008: Signed a seven-year, $45 million contract. The deal contains $16 million guaranteed, including a $12 million signing bonus. 2009: $620,000, 2010: $3.86 million, 2011: $4.25 million, 2012: $5.75 million, 2013: $6.25 million, 2014: $7 million, 2015: Free Agent

According to the GM's here, about as good as Jones' were two years ago. Flavor of the month...

Barber's a player I'd have to be offered something outstanding in return in order to consider trading him.

Not going to happen. I secretly in the back of my mind want this to happen even though Barber is about my favorite cowboy...it's my dirty secret. I don't want him to go but with the wealth at RB and needing a lot of help it crosses my mind more than it should... but it won't happen anyway and add on the fact that he's getting fairly injury prone and yeah...not going to happen.

Not going to happen. It would have to be an offer you couldn't refuse and that would be a first round pick.

His blitz pickup is something we cannot lose.

I hear ya and agree, but its already been suggested several times... The guy comes with passion with every catch and carry.

ugh.

why in the hell would they wanna trade Barber....hes still the heart and soul of this O.....you can day dream about Felix all u want but he hasnt proved jack yet cept that he can get hurt...and Barber is still a better blocker and more powerful runner than Choice......why cant we just be happy to have them all? so far its been proven they need all three

I didnt' say I wanted him traded just looking at what may happen next season is all. We are deep in RB's I can see one of them being traded.

exactly and certain guys you dont get rid of like the ravens will not get rid of ray lewis he is the emotional leader, john lynch was in tampa, dawkins is proving his worth in denver, even rodney harrison in new england.... marion is definately the heart and soul of our offense he gives it %100 percent on every block, catch, and carry. he is a beast

Zilch! Barber is a beast and he stays for the better part of his career in Dallas.

About the same as My reading another of your threads. ;)

lol ok. But if you think about it we have 2 other great RB's I know Jones is hurt alot but Barber is too lately and we would get a great draft for him not saying I want this to happen but I could see it possibly happening.

It would have to be for a 1st round pick to get me interested.

Anything less than that............no deal.

In theory I would not be opposed to a trade. But as mentioned, the return would have to rival the Walker trade from Ye O'le days.

I think from what we've learned so far this season, 3 RBs is something that is highly desireable.

How about keeping him and not worrying about the position again for several years?

Barber is playing dinged up and had a couple good runs were called back due to penalties. I don't see Dallas trading him and feel he is an important part of this team.

Like Kangaroo already said i don't see this happen next season. But i think we will have a big conversation the following year.

If Barber can't stay healthy as it looks right now and only be a part time back i think he we will try to trade him in the 2011 season. Especially because i think Felix & Choice's rookie contracts will expire this season. So we will have to decide where to put our money. With 3 seasons left on his contract we could afford eating up those final 6 mills signing bonus.

Even though Barber is a great running back....he is not durable. So far Jerry has not gotten his moneys worth and if the cowboys were smart they would attempt to dangle him for a nice trade next year and get a top receiver or LT.
