What are the odds of recovering from Dak's injury?

Does anyone have a background in these type of injuries? Have there been other NFL Athletes that have come back from the hamstring being separated from the bone?

I have no experience with this and don't know anyone who does

I'd be interested in the perspective of anyone in the medical field but personally I almost equate it to an Achilles injury with the concept of the tendon completely tearing

I understand it's a very different part of the body....

As a general rule hamstring injuries take a while to heal and can be repetitive in nature (ask Sean Lee)

I my gut tells me this is an injury that could (and probably will) take a while to mend and will likely have lingering repercussions both on burst and fluidity of movement, and also could rear its head again in the future

Again purely conjecture based on my own hunches and not based on any personal experience or expertise in this field. Just my best stab at it

I'm not a doctor but I do know that there are several degrees of hamstring issues.
If Dak suffered an avulsion injury, which is when the tendon tears away from the bone which sounds like what Dak suffered here.
If upon tearing the hamstring part of the bone is pulled separated with the tendon than it gets worse.

He may lose some of that 4.4 speed, haha. In all seriousness, the fact he's getting surgery likely improves long term outlook he'll be ready to go for Minicamp.

He elected for surgery, it’s over the season for him. We’re not going to the playoffs.

Some of you guys hate Dak so much you are hoping it is a career ending injury. Funny thing is I have never heard a player let alone quarterback career end because of a hamstring injury.

Oh, he will come back stronger than ever, best shape of his life, again. He's a a big mutha(shut your mouth). Then him and CD will be the greatest QB and receiver that has ever played in the NFL, at least that is what he said.

He'll be fine next year, but I never thought he would be back this year. It would be stupid to rush him back for a losing season. This may be a positive in the long run. Dak will have to rehab the leg and hopefully spend a lot of time strengthening his legs and gains maybe a step when he scrambles.

He won’t be fine. Now he has major injuries to both legs. He already ran a 4.7-4.8 before the hammy. No he will be as stationary as a 40 year old ARod or Peyton Manning.

i know a guy that had his ripped clean off bone. he did taekwondo at the national level. spent a year recovering after surgery was never the same ended up retiring from competition a year after coming back. just was not the same mentality and every time it popped he had to give it a few weeks of recovery

From what I can find between 12%-29% are grade 3. Jordan Watson and Jordy Nelson grade 3 and missed 8 games. Odell Beckham in 2018 missed 4 games plus 4 preseason games after early in camp. The ones where the tear is in buttocks are usually recommend surgery because tendon retraction and take a few weeks longer because of surgery!

I had a bad hammy pull one year, it took over a month to even start practicing and didn’t get better until the next year. It sucks because you can’t rush it. So with surgery I’m not sure if that speeds up the recovery.

It seems that 9 months would be enough time so he should be good for next year. I would think he’ll be doing a lot of agility, running and stretching drills. Unfortunately, I see him focusing on getting his throwing motion down without pain so I expect the Statue of Liberty in the pocket, when he should probably be doing sprints and agility drills.

Only if our GM had this wisdom and built a legit OLine.

Who would have known that older QB's are less mobile?
